Serious question: what motivated your aunt to go 50 years without applying for citizenship?

IIRC the reason for the subtitle is that the plan if the movie did well was to make a series of movies where each one is a different party on a different adventure. So with more movies the subtitle approach would make more sense. I'm guessing that plan fell through since there's some new TV series coming with the cast from the first movie.

Are boomers and Gen X the people who voted for Reagan, both Bush's, and Trump? Because that's the worst generation.

Gen X would have been too young to vote for Reagan. They're '65 to '80 and Reagan was elected in 80, so the oldest X-ers would have been 15. They're more likely to have been the reason Clinton won against Bush Sr.

I don't mind the resource management aspect of eternal, but I'm really hoping the gunplay goes back to 2016. In the first game it felt like you really had to make sure you were using the right weapon against the right enemy and it made every weapon in your arsenal useful. In eternal it was about using whatever you had that was the strongest while managing chainsaw cooldowns to make sure you always had ammo for it.

Until the dragon radar was invented, even collecting the Dragon balls is like a once in a millennium kind of thing. After the wish the balls turn to Stone and are scattered across the planet and remain inactive for at least a year. It's only really modern DBZ where the party has the ability to recover them basically whenever they want. I think the in universe explanation is they go out of their way to collect them and blow it on a trivial wish each year so that they're perpetually turned off to prevent more bad guys from coming and wishing themselves immortal or all powerful.

I mean, at the end of the day the whole Prince thing was really just a metaphor about being yourself and not sticking to tradition just because it's tradition. We could just as easily say that genie's wish went off the way it did because Aladdin didn't really have the confidence to believe he could be a prince and even after the wish he clearly didn't believe that his wish had been fulfilled.

At the very least, it's still better than the Little Mermaid whose core message is "even if you're already rich and famous, make a deal with the devil to get what you want and daddy will fix it in the end."

No, it's more that even though the league has never made money the players wanted to be treated like it was the NBA, so now all the teams get charter flights which cost $25 million a year even though the league is already losing 10 million dollars a year. It's entitlement, pure and simple.

It always bothered me that Aladdin's wish wasn't really granted. He wished to be a Prince, but the best Genie can do is manifest a parade and a nice outfit. Aladdin wasn't actually made a prince, which ends up driving the entire plot.

Like, when Jafar wished to be sultan he was made sultan. He wasn't just given a new outfit and told to fake it until he made it.

It's not really a fictional idea is it? Outside of the US, you do have highly dense cities with good public transportation.

It won't work everywhere in the US, at all. But in the areas where it can be done, denser cities is more cost effective, efficient, and safer. But you are specifically talking about how some market the idea, and I agree that not everyone uses the best pros/cons and narratives about it.

When people talk about 15 minute walkable cities, what they're pitching isn't your average European city. There's also the fact that cars are double or triple parked all over the place because these cities were built well before cars were common place. If I walk out of an apartment on the edge of the beltway in Rome, or if I'm in downtown Athens, I'm not suddenly magically 15 minutes away from my job, and also 15 minutes away from the grocery store, and also 15 minutes away from entertainment. A city being so old that it can't realistically support traffic is not the same as a city designed to eliminate it.

Yes, ultimately you have to prioritize something. Right now, cars are prioritized and all other forms are illegal. I simply think we should make both ideas legal, and let the market and people choose what they want.

And that's fine, but there needs to be honesty in marketing. There are a lot of drawbacks to 15 minutes cities that people either pretend don't exist or just say vague things like "you can still have your car" while either consciously or otherwise omitting the part where these sorts of designs make it functionally impossible to do what they're claiming you can still do.

Sell it for what it is, the good and the bad. But I'm not going to buy into a fictional idea of this futuristic city that ignores the logistics of the real world and then jump behind that as if it's achievable.

Why do you need a parking space for every adult?
In a 15 minute city, you'd incentive people to use public transportation and ideally not need a car because it's hopefully just a better form of transportation for the person. For those who need a car, that option is there. Parking is one of those things that we subsidize heavily. Literally making it insane cheap to park a car in one of the most highly prized real estate. It's an insanely inefficient method of land use policy

"You don't need a car" isn't the same as "we've made it impossible for you to have a car" which is why I brought up parking. Paying lip service to drivers while building infrastructure that makes it difficult to actually have a car isn't a practical solution unless the goal is to force people to give up cars because it's a 30 minute commute to where you can park it.
