This reminds me that the clock is ticking (like, less than 48 hours) on saving the Wile E. Coyote movie (which is supposedly actually legitimately good) from being written off.

Dunno who else remembers this but in 2000 and 2001, CN allowed viewers to vote from groups of like 8-10 pilots and the winner would be picked up as a full series. The winner in 2000 was Billy & Mandy, and in 2001 it was Kids Next Door, both of which went on to be much more popular and successful than most of the series the Network picked up on its own. The kids knew what they wanted.

Incidentally, a second pilot from 2000, Robot Jones, was eventually picked up years later, but didn't last very long.

Oh, and in 2002 they also put out a batch of new pilots, but rather than hold a formal vote, they perused things like reviews and web forums to see which one(s) were most popular, and from there, Megas XLR was born.

Auron is certainly an extreme example but I'd say most FF characters from 7 onward look a lot older than they're supposed to be. Some other notable ones...

I never heard that he'd said this, but I DO remember there was an E3 Direct (I THINK it was 2014) where someone in an audience heckling him shouted out a request for Mother 3, so they've at least officially acknowledged the demand for the game.

According to Wikipedia, EEnE is CN's longest-running standalone original series, so that's gotta be worth something.

I can actually agree with this.

Like, how many episodes of the show can you really remember, compared to episodes of Dexter, PPG, and EEnE? But the character himself is super iconic.

I'm surprised at so many people leaving Dexter's Lab off. That was their first significant original program and ran for many years and was a staple of their lineup long after being cancelled. Dexter was basically their mascot for years. I feel like it'd kinda be like leaving Mario off a Nintendo Rushmore.

My thought exactly. It kinda looks like something more fitting to the kinds of games I play on Switch rather than those I play on PS5, but I'm perfectly happy just getting it on PS5.

You completely missed my point, which was that they didn't translate Earthbound Beginnings from scratch to release it in the modern era. It was already done/mostly done decades ago. So Mother 3 isn't in the same boat.

I believe this was a pseudo-Star Fox 2 situation where the translation had already been done or at least mostly done back when the game first came out in Japan and simply never released.

There are a LOT of solid options, and I could see dozens of memes getting well-deserved votes today, but I feel pretty confident in this selection.

After consideration, replace PTB with Heroic accounts. Foolmo's callout made me rethink my stance on including it and still feeling like this is just in good fun, and I've already got off-B8 notoriety covered with Bidoof Comics. Heroic accounts cover an aspect of the board that doesn't overlap with anything else I have and are indeed a major part of the board's "good old days."

Honestly, ertyu memes could get a Rushmore of their own. That being said, I advise against it, even though I think if he were still here he'd probably be amused by it and maybe even play along.

Yeah, Morty's difficulty is largely understated due to how infamous Whitney's Miltank is but the truth is the average, casual player is going to be better equipped to handle Whitney's Miltank than Morty's Gengar at their respective points in the game.

This is fair. I guess I'm desensitized to that for a couple reasons, first because of all the jokes that are spread even in the mass media whenever a male celebrity's dick pic gets leaked, and second because I perceive celebrities as being in a different league when it comes to any kind of criticism or mockery, and those are probably things I still need to work on. Thanks for the callout and I'm going to reconsider my vote.

Yeah a lot of the most notable memes are highly problematic, same for dey gotta surfer. Like, the phrase dey gotta surfer is inherently hilarious on its own, but then you remember the circumstances around it and yikes, its really messed up.

I kinda take solace in the fact that most of us were like 13-21ish when most of these happened and I think it's fair enough to forgive ourselves for stuff like that from that age.

Still not voting for any of it here. All the ones I voted for were lighthearted things that I can sleep easy with.
