Parker's [concurrence] is... something else. It's an abortion of emotionally charged language that reads like an article you would find on The Federalist. It is utterly devoid of legal reasoning and incorporates theological hoopty ass bullshit (technical term, by the way) as a substitute. It has no business being a part of an appellate opinion.

I think it's likely. People are more mask off now than they were in 2016. They've had 8 years to be rewarded by and stewed in their own hatred.

I've been chugging through Maniac. I switched from Zeta to Narmaya about 2/3 through the main story and she just clicked for me.

I believe the new anime is intended to follow the manga more closely. OG anime deviated here and there despite hitting the same story beats.

It can be. Appellate court will give significant deference to the trial court's fact finding (that is, in determining credibility and assessing the character of alleged unlawful conduct against the appropriate statute and/or common law). Engoron's ruling will need to be deemed to be against the weight of the evidence for a successful appeal of the judgment itself. Deference is especially great when it's a question of assessing conflicting evidence and testimony.

Yeah, the order is scathing. Engoron basically shat all over the Trump team's witnesses and arguments.

Starting on page 26, Engoron absolutely rakes Weisselberg over the coals. Straight up says that Trump and co. kept him on a short leash.

Unlikely. Even if the ethics/conflicts concerns were substantive, the indictments aren't getting thrown unless Trump and co. can basically prove a malicious prosecution claim. Willis and Wade bowing out would more than settle things if it came to that.

Basically this. Even under the assumption that there would be some political sympathies, the ramifications of a reversal are far more severe and long lasting than the political fallout/damage to the Republican party.

Timeframe-wise, I'm not sure what scheduling rules are binding on SCOTUS appeals/ruling on a petition for certiorari. So that is a concern.

The D.C. Circuit's opinion is very thorough in its utilization of legal precedent and principles and historical analysis. It would be some monumental mental gymnastics to carve out a coherent rebuttal and overturn the decision.

I can do an in-depth look later and provide a summary if folks would be interested.
