His behavior was creepy and came to light during a time when everyone was focused on sex crimes in Hollywood.

What he did is empirically not as bad as Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby but it was still creepy and was taking advantage of a power dynamic.

While he was wrong, he also never really seemed to show much remorse. I don't hate the guy and I do kinda rue that his material is less acceptable these days.

Of course. But surely you're well aware of the Americanized version of the Maginot Line's history: "France built a massive fortified trench expecting more WWI-style warfare, Germany simply flew over it, French = dumb losers, Germans = smart ass-kickers." It's cultural propaganda I've seen a few times over my life, something I myself bought into hook, line and sinker until I was corrected a few years ago.
I always learned that it was the blitzkrieg that broke the line

I've actually never heard of the "lol they just flew over it" story

If she didn't get all huffy and puffy and defensive about it, then yeah, I'd say there's some positive there.

You really should just have a serious sit down convo about it. Just express how you feel about it, don't offer solutions or ask her to change. Just say how you feel.

That's always the best way to start approaching a problem. You can figure out a compromise after.

IMO anyway

You sound like me somewhat.

I would say there's a possibility she is simply trying to communicate her concerns but doesn't know to gently word it, doesn't know what being supportive looks like. If she's saying what you quoted verbatim, then yeah, that's pretty negative and unsupportive. But if you were paraphrasing... maybe she's being supportive in a different way.

Don't gaslight yourself, but maybe you two need to have a talk about this.

Because if this weren't your fiancee, I'd be advising you to leave (internet stranger opinions are important)

People get so weirdly obsessed with running the meta even if they're not even good enough to run the meta or the meta is only very slightly ahead of everything else. I have cerebral palsy so I play who I feel like in Overwatch 2, and people nonstop bitch about your choices even if you're the one carrying.

I don't really care that some people want to play "high level", but it's super lame when people try to force their gameplay on other people. People got so pissy when I beat their sweaty MSP/MSS/MSC teams in MvC2 with a much weaker team, and I never play Phantasy Star Online with randoms because they just want to play the same two quests for their entire playtime.

Metagaming is fine and something that will eventually happen, but people have such annoyingly binary ideas on balance that I constantly hear "run this or lose" or "everything else is completely useless", even in the context of a single-player game.
I think this is a big part of why I don't like this "meta-gaming" thing

Especially the very first thing you said. God, those people really annoy me.
I'm trying to think of a good analogy for this but I'm coming up empty. Like, how likely is it that you'll be able to use this advanced strategy successfully when you can't even use a basic one?

This is kinda just how anything competitive is. I was in high school when Marvel vs Capcom 3 came out looking at how to do cool shit. People in the 90s formed groups and gathered tech to sweep competition in arcades. The internet has just made it so that any joe can learn how to be decent at a game
Sure, this is a good example of when it is appropriate and works to make people have more fun. But I also feel like that's not really meta gaming in this topics sense, but I'm not a fighting game player.

Yes and no.

Yes, sure, there's some guides on gfaqs that include meta strats

But gfaqs came about in an era before competitive online gaming, before the internet in its current state. So there was just less of this going around. Ofc the grinding ppl were there already, but this idea of meta gaming has corrupted so many people who play games.

I genuinely do not see how they enjoy playing anything like that.

If, in order to be competitive at a multiplayer aspect of the game, one has to research specific builds that take advantage of game engine limitations/quirks instead of being able to intuit and build your own way, you have failed as a game developer.

Also, people who play games and only care about levels and exp going up and not actually experiencing the game as it was meant to. Sometimes this is the devs fault, but in my opinion there's too many people who immediately just start grinding away at levels and then complain the game got stale.

Like, have fun how you want to have fun but I don't have to like it.

The controls are markedly dated. That is a common complaint of newcomers. The game also doesn't hold your hand in figuring out what's going on. There's a lot you can miss if you're not paying attention. It's an old game now, but a lot of what they had was innovative for the time and honestly still is. Nobody has been able to emulate what Dragons Dogma has.

This is not a WRPG. It's definitely a JRPG that takes from western games and it's not exactly the same kind of open world it was intended to emulate. The game's rushed nature has a lot to do with that.

All that noted, what I really want to convey is that Dragons Dogma is a very unique experience that plays like an ARPG in a lot of ways, takes its gameplay cues from JRPGs and takes its story cues from western high fantasy. There is no game like it. Theres a neat lore aspect to it, and the atmosphere of the maps areas is top notch. The difficulty curve is kind of steep, but it's very satisfying once you've mastered the games quirks and start becoming more powerful. Pawn system is very cool, the indirect interactions via pawns is still charming and fun, to put it plainly.

DD also always tries to challenge you. You can grind and push through the game but you WILL run into a wall eventually.

Finally, DD is the source of some gr8 memes. I hope you join us and learn that wolves ill like fire, Arisen.

not really on topic but I recently found that only Americans really like to judge distance by time.

There's just something better about professionally produced porn, from the lighting to the dynamic camera work. It's never gonna be replaced by video of a girl lazily receiving in one or two static angles
