he wasnt confirming shit.

I told him that I purchased it FOR my dad.

He wasnt listening.

The reason I know this is because he tried to pull the whole 48 hour shit in the beginning, and then, when I mentioned my dad, he switched to that as a way to get me to stop.

I'm not asking but I am curious what tc was called.

Word that can be used to describe a snack like Cheez-its or Saltines but also has a seperate usage as a slur for white people I'm guessing.

Anyways I'm with TC and also the people just whining about customers. Its pretty wild for an employee to bust out a slur in such a situation and to have such an awful return policy...but I also agree a decent chunk of peoples perception of "bad service" nowadays is simply people refusing to be treated like shit. Its a two way street doing business.

That said it is easy to be rude or aggressive with employees when you are upset even if not intentionally so I could believe you came off as aggressive and the employee overeacted to a quite unacceptable degree.

My brother used to work at a dispensary, and he made more than the average USA salary.

When I worked at Walmart, I had to stand for hours. I have cerebral palsy, and I had to wait months before getting a stool to sit on for accommodations so I left the job.

I initially started putting in 100% and being as nice as possible. But doing that just burnt me out and the employers don't actually give a shit whether or not you're putting in the most effort. Pretty much every one of my co-workers worked like zombies to preserve their mental health and to tolerate the miserable, repetitive work we get. Customers expect so much out of employees and often bully them (I got called lots of slurs) so it's not really worth the effort to care.

Also customers complain to employees about returns, receipts, and rules as if we have any agency in any of that, just like TC.

As someone who has spent his entire adult working life in various customer service-heavy jobs, I can easily say that most customers are unhinged psychotic wackos. They dont seem to understand that not everything is going to go their way all the time, and take it out on people in my position (even though there is very little we can truly do about it).

Now of course there are shitty employees too, but I can honestly say that Im never rude or nasty to start. Im always willing to help people to the best of my ability and you know what I get? Screamed at. Cursed at. Insulted. All over something that I cant do anything about.

Those of you who havent had to work these types of jobs better appreciate the fuck out of how lucky you are, because it fucking sucks.

We couldnt sell anything to minors and I had to apologize to a kid and have a manager explain we couldnt sell her peanuts. here's the thing about customer service as someone who has worked it for a long, long time.

if the person you're talking isn't just a little bit drunk, it's probably gonna be bad.

so make sure that your customer service people, regardless of if it's food/bev or support, are buzzed as hell.

I live in Japan, where customer service is unusually polite, and where things get done (usually). Its all about creating an inviting, memorable atmosphere. It is a better business model than sell crap as fast as possible, because it builds trust in a company.

Whenever i visit the US, everything just feels gross and heartless. Nothing has care put into it, and people dont think about how they make their peers feel.

Manager told me his name like a professional.

Employee told me to fuck off.

I disagree personally. Maybe it's because I'm always reasonable and cordial but I rarely get employees giving me a hard time or jerking me around.

Working a job where you directly interact with the customer is incredibly draining. I dont blame a lot of people for having an edge or "zombie-ing" out.

As for your story, TC, you have to respect the store's policy. In my opinion two days is a horrible policy but it is what it is. Advise your dad to get his cartridges somewhere else.

I had an incident at work tonight that makes it hard to want to be nice. There was a family up at the pool with a bunch of little kids. The kids all got out of the pool and went into the fitness room and were climbing all over the weight machine and treadmills while soaking wet. I told the parents the kids can't be in there they are too young and don't have shoes or anything. The dad got all pissed off and asked where it says that. I pointed him right to the sign on the door that says everything I said. He went off on me, calling me the R word, saying I wanted his kids. I just grabbed my stuff and left as he said "You better fuckin leave." I told the floor manager and security and by time they went up there they had gone back to their room.
