| bigblu89 03/18/24 5:20:52 PM #32 | As a parent of a 18 and 15 year old, I find it a lot easier to have my kids venture out into the neighborhood without me with a lot more comfort than my parents would have, even though I had a pretty decent amount of freedom when I was a kid.
Both of my kids have a had a phone since they were in middle school, which allowed us to know their location at all times. There where times when i was a kid where HOURS would go by without my parents knowing where I was other than "out playing with the neighborhood kids". It's also a matter of trusting your kids to know they won't get into any real trouble. I didn't watch the video yet, but I imagine they hit on the topic of the illusion of the world being a more violent place than it used to be. But I honestly think that's just a matter of the ease at which information is spread now. Living in New York, if someone got shot in Alabama, you wouldn't know about it unless you read page 20-something in the newspaper. Now, you hear about it online before the body hits the floor. --- It takes zero effort to be a good person. |

Wait, theyre actually expecting people to donate their cars? Only people I can see doing this are the rich and mainly for tax deductions....so its probably a scam. Many behavioral things that people attribute to "boomers" are actually being done by Gen Xers. As a GenXer, we are feeling that HARD right now, mainly because we "did nothing" to stop the boomers for ruining everything. Like all of us at that ranged from 8 to 16 years old in the 1980's had any power to do anything while the generational earnings gap began. And now we're the assholes because our parents did well for themselves and set some of us up for success as well. This corny ass song "The Living Years" came out in the 80's about a guy regretting not telling his dad all the things he wanted to before he passed, but the opening line has really sat with me, especially as I get older. Keep in mind, this song is nearly 40 years old, and this line still fits today. The original still exists. This potentially being bad doesn't make the original any better or worse. There's some great movies out there that people love that they probably don't even know they are a remake/retelling of an old story. Clueless, Ocean's 11, Scarface, The Departed. The complaints were more about how she wasn't as "cute" as the original actress. Which was kinda disturbing, when you consider that it was pretty obvious that Ellie was underage. As far as other casting, as long as the actor/actress somewhat resembles what I picture the character to look like, I have no issues with it.
