It was $100 CAD on sale down from $160. It's definitely for liability sake. My coworker had his Ford Escape written off because somebody did an illegal U-turn in front of him, which she swerved to avoid and hit a utility pole. There was no accident other than his impact on a utility pole, so they were going to knock some merits off of his license. Only eyewitness testimony and a camera at that intersection saved him.

Mom bought a Commodore 64 back in 1989. I played TMNT, Infiltrator 2, ATF, and a whole host of games. I learned about command lines then. I had a teacher that could copy Commodore 64 games, so I ended up with a bunch of them. She was a fucking legend. Probably what sparked my love of PCs. I remember wanting an IBM Aptiva in grade 6, but never got one. My first actual PC was a clone PC that mom bought from a dude. No idea how much she paid for it, but it was in the low hundreds. It was a P166 running Win98 SE, that came loaded with Earthworm Jim, Warcraft 2, and Quake. Mom got a bunch of freeware games, and I found the fantasy pack. I tried playing Baldur's Gate, but my PC wasn't good enough for it. I settled on Dark Sun: Shattered Lands, Exile, Avernum, and others.

I ended up caving in and buying a ps5 because of FF16. I wanted to wait for a pro but I'm my own worst enemy sometimes. PS5 was definitely not worth it though I should have waited.

I bought the PS5 because I still had a base PS4. I treated it as a glorified PS4 Pro, so it was worth it to me.

When the PS5 first launched Sony claimed that only special Sony approved ssds could be installed because theirs were so super fast that other ones in the market couldn't compete.

Mark Cerny was huffing his own farts, but he isn't wrong. The PCIe bandwidth throughput needed a very fast SSD to be able to do the render and compute times according to what Sony wanted on the PS5. It uses PCIe gen 4, and required a minimum of 5600MB/s read. There were hacky workarounds to get lower spec drives to work, but it was suboptimal. The best thing Sony did was not require you to have proprietary SSDs like the Xbox Series X. You can put any M.2 NVMe in your PS5 as long as you had the theoretical read write speeds it requires.
