On the plus side though every single character is unlocked from the start so you can do Vs and Online with every character. Story mode is different since you need to unlock the characters there to do their story parts.

Anything they do will get unwanted change anyways. People won't want a fixed script that takes out stuff like "This guy are sick.", some won't want HD graphics, some won't want voice acting. There's no way to remake the game without upsetting somebody with a change anyways! I'm not saying it needs to copy XIII's system, but it would be weird if they just stand like they usually do while having HD graphics for some reason.

It's unlikely they'd leave the battle system as it is though. I mean I don't mind older FF ATB stuff, but it would look sort of weird in HD.

Even if it's an excuse I wouldn't find it hard to believe it would take them a long time. I don't think it would take the 10 times longer than FFXIII they claimed, but I could see it taking at least 5 years even having everything they already need. They'd need to upgrade all the visuals like attacks, character models, cities and the world map itself. I could see an HD world map especially taking a while to reach their quality standard!

Chie's new voice isn't bad, but I need to hear some story dialogue to get a good feel for it. I still like Chie's old voice much more so far on what little I've heard of new Chie. Also the cool alt costumes will unfortunately and to no surprise be paid DLC so I'll have to pay if I want my awesome Metis alt costume for Aigis.

I think it's more like they hate losing money. Sure a lot of people don't like new Square stuff much, but it seems to do pretty well still. Didn't FFXIII hit 6 million plus copies worldwide? Remaking FF7 would be a huge and costly project that I don't believe will be the colossal Square-saving money maker everybody else seems to think it will be. It'll do well yeah, but FF7 released at the perfect time and today things are pretty different for the genre. Also Square is really slow these days and 2 years ago they claimed remaking VII up to XIII's level would take 3-4 decades. If they remake it they'll be going all out so I could see them spending a really long time on it.

Yeah my energy is at max. Yukimura's Charmeleon is just really weak and it doesn't help the Zubat was gaining HP from not moving from a banner on the stage. That level in general was pretty annoying.

Gardevoir is so great. I recently did a B/W playthrough with one that started off as an unhatched Ralts egg. It ended up destroying the B/W Elite 4 almost entirely by itself.

You will probably stomp a lot. My team is mostly evolved, but nothing feels very strong. It literally took Yukimura's Charmeleon 5-6 turns to kill a Zubat in the Viperia boss battle.

Wally ends up with one of the best Pokemon in the series so I can forgive him. If the other rival didn't give up I'd be pretty happy with Gen 3's rivals. That's something they should fix in the remake.

Haha the games are already easy mode. Who would want that? Starting a game on Hard mode would be pretty fun via trading that key though. Watch them not let you be able to trade it until post game or something or make it a Key Item.

Nah FF doesn't even get good until the 5th entry, but then 7 ruins the stretch. After 10 you have stuff like XI, XII and XIV ruining any kind of stretch that could be made too.

At this point I don't even know what my top 5 RPG series are. Final Fantasy used to be #1 for a while, but after playing more stuff it has fallen quite a bit. Persona and Tales of definitely take the first two spots. After that is probably Kingdom Hearts and Pokemon. SMT spinoffs like DDS and Devil Survivor are up there too. Final Fantasy probably sits at about 6th or 7th for me despite having more games I like, but that's because it has more games.

They're pretty much stuck in an impossible situation. JRPGs have really declined unfortunately and Square in general has been losing fans who feel they've gone into a bad direction. It'll be tough for them to make anything on the same level of worldwide appeal and even if they do when they remake FF7 it'd be upgraded to current gen standard which they say would take a lot of time and resources. There will undoubtedly be people unhappy with the remake as well and it likely won't see the same success or appeal the original had.

I mostly buy JRPGs and there just haven't been a whole lot of them this year for me. I still need to pick up XIII-2 and that's about it so far. I bought a decent amount of games this year, but most were from last year.
