I don't think I can tonight though.

I have a really hard time being as up in arms about this as everyone else is. I don't think headhunting is the sort of thing that should be encouraged, but when I watch football I basically want to see the defense murder the guy carrying the ball. Football is a violent sport, that's more than a small part of what makes the sport entertaining. So... ehhhh. I don't love the whole bounty thing, but I honestly don't see what's just so awful about it. I don't think the Saints should get the death penalty for it. Fines would suffice.

I feel like RedLetterMedia's reviews of these movies have completely destroyed my ability to argue about how terrible the prequel trilogy is, because I have no original points to make about them that he didn't already cover. He's right in every single way about just how awful these movies are. And they're not just bad movies - they take a giant crap all over an important backstory to the good Star Wars movies. The best I can do is pretend they don't exist, but that's hard when Lucas keeps saying that he hates the original trilogy and thinks the prequel trilogy is better. The prequel trilogy genuinely did a lot of damage to Star Wars's image.

Homestuck's tone changes a lot in Act 5, I think. The zany antics are toned down (there's very little fake adventure game stuff going on at all by that point, especially in part 2) and s*** starts to get pretty serious. If you really want to like Homestuck, end of act 4 is not the place to stop, in my opinion. That's just me though - if you don't like it, you don't like it.

I don't see how you could say the game isn't similar to Zelda. Obviously, the genre of game is a very different one, and it takes everything to a whole new level, but the dungeon format is taken directly out of Zelda, some enemies and the style of enemy placement are taken directly out of Zelda, three items are taken directly out of Zelda (map, compass, ladder), even the visual interface with the rupees/bombs/keys thing is totally Zelda. I'm not trying to say that Binding of Isaac is a Zelda clone, it's obviously not, but it's clearly trying to evoke Zelda in a lot of ways and the whole game feels like a souped up Zelda dungeon with Smash TV-esque gameplay.

Having played this game for a bit now (seeing this convinced me to buy it finally), it's an awesome game but I don't disagree with Nintendo's decision to not carry it. I don't really agree with it either, I'm just kinda neutral. It's not like Nintendo has to carry the game if they don't want to, and while I'm not personally offended or disgusted by the game in the least, it's pretty damn extreme. So I mean, whatever. I'd like to see the game on the 3DS, but if Nintendo doesn't want to do that, fine. They don't have to, and I can't see a reason to particularly hold it against them.

and yes, very valid point. Video games are more expensive for interactivity. Limited interactivity = limited price imo LOL

I think it's less "video games are expensive because they're interactive" and more "video games are expensive because those are the expected prices consumers will pay." If people shell out 60 bucks for this, then it was the correct price tag. If they don't, they f***ed up. But I don't think it really matters how much of a "game" it is.

Yeah, I think that UU and uu are... probably not pre-scratch trolls - or at least, they're not part of the group of 12 that we're familiar with. Although this had already been foreshadowed, really - I think the usage of the Ophiuchus symbol was probably intended to tell us just that.

But who f***ing knows. We don't know anything about uu yet, so speculation is pretty difficult. I am eager to see where this goes.

The timing of uu's message after the Condesce is like trying to kill Roxy just gives me a bad feeling though.

^You guys are missing the point that in the pre-scratch troll universe, Alternia is a peaceful planet full of nice, weak people.

These are not the same characters as the "ancestors" we know. This Mindfang is obviously a nice girl, just look at her clothes.

The reason the Condesce is still a b**** is to contrast against Feferi, who is a wise and benevolent empress in this universe.

Am I a "you guy?" This is exactly what I think is true, and moreover it's why Feferi's character exists in the first place, to show us what she'd be like if she were a ruler - say, of pre-scratch trollverse.

Also I just realized, if these are indeed the A1 scratched trolls, how hilariously fitting it is to have punk royalty as the precursor to hipster royalty.

It's really the other way around, though! A1 is ruled by adult Feferi and the Condesce is presumably the heir (or maybe not - really don't know how it works in the pre-scratch trollverse).

Oh I wasn't asking where the thing about scratched people not existing anymore was stated, I already knew about that. I'm asking you how you know it for a fact just because Doc Scratch told us. He doesn't lie, but there are so many possible different meanings behind what he said that you don't know what is and is not exactly true.

Basically, unless Hussie specifically states it in a non-joking manner in his blog, nothing's assured. It is pretty certain, however, that we're dealing with the pre-scratch trolls here, and I just don't know if it's at a point in their timeline before or after the scratch. The fact that they're dead and in some kind of dreambubble situation is starting to make me think the latter, although it doesn't explain UU.

I really dig the B2 creates A1 theory, honestly. There's a lot we don't know about how this could work, but I know it can work because it's Homestuck and if there's anything that Homestuck loves, it's time loops and symmetry. Every time something doesn't make sense, I assume that a time loop is involved, and that it parallels something in the story.

B2 is linked to A1 somehow. The trolls we have met are pre-scratch trolls.

Except I STILL don't know what the f*** is up with UU.

I am similarly now very confident that the reason Feferi even exists is to give us a hint about the other three versions of her, not because she herself is actually important.

As for finding the movie with the fewest objectionable changes, shrug. If you can avoid the most recent changes, do so. I'd personally prefer to watch the oldest version of the films you can, but it's not really the end of the world if you don't. If there's a version that changes Palpatine to not be stupid in ESB but before Greedo Shoots First, that would probably be the best version, but I can't remember if there is a version like that or if those changes were introduced at the same time.

Huh, no I mean I really like songs that have several different modes that change contextually based on what's happening in the fight. SoA's boss battle does this - it has a normal mode, then a part that plays when someone is dead and then a triumphant part that plays when the boss is at critical health. I love video game songs that do this, so SoA's boss theme stands out more in my head.

I find CT's normal battle theme to be kind of unremarkable really. I don't get tired of it by the end of the game, which is good - that is really the most I can ask for out of an RPG's battle theme. There aren't a lot of RPGs that actually pull this off, which is probably why the boss themes all usually sound so much better to me.

It is sort of a legacy term I guess, but I see it like the evolution of any other language. What else would you call the extremely common video game cliche of having a particularly strong enemy at the end of levels? It's just "boss." The word "boss" means that now. In fact, I'd say the word is common enough in our overall language that the dictionary is being negligent in not including this definition of the word "boss."

(Other video game words that are funny if you break them down: enemy, level)
