I liked Rarity even before that but then she became the best pony forever after her best episodes. Though Fluttershy is a close second.

Great detail isn't needed. Controllers lack the freedom in movement/aiming and the sufficient number of buttons required to play TF2 with any degree of proficiency. It's that simple.

There aren't a lot of haters, just more than like... Twilight, or something. I don't really see Twilight haters around. Or Rainbow Dash, like I said before. I think the only characters with a significant amount of hate are Rarity and Applejack.

Rarity honestly seems like she ought to be closer to being middle-aged than teenaged. I can't buy her as being younger than about 24 personally, though I think all of the cast is supposed to be.

I must be the only one who just likes Fluttershy because I think she's funny as hell, angry or not. Yeah, she does make me d'awwwww a lot more than any other pony admittedly, but I like her because she just has a lot of funny moments.

Hey I didn't say that anyone actually does consider Fluttershy their ideal girlfriend, that's just what people accuse Fluttershy of a lot.

Although I'm sure people do like Fluttershy in that way but that's beside the point.

A lot of people seem to dislike Fluttershy based on her just being too "moe" and claim that people only like her because she's their ideal girlfriend, so I'm not sure. I think Dash is more universally liked.

No, I'd say all of the main characters are liked almost equally. If I had to guess which one's the most popular I would say Rainbow Dash, but that is extremely debatable.

Well, Griffon the Brush-off (5) is a Pinkie episode, so there's that, but it's not normally a highly regarded episode. The series is generally considered to get really good with Dragonshy (7) and Bridle Gossip (9), so there's those to look forward to, although my personal favorite episodes aren't until a while later (16 and 25).

It does, quite a bit better too, but I don't really know if it would change your mind if you weren't really hot on it already. The first few episodes didn't really catch my attention either though. I didn't see what all the fuss was about until I watched Bridle Gossip and Sonic Rainboom.

You're pretty much done with the CMCs - they'll appear a couple more times, but not to the degree of Show Stoppers. They're good representations of kids but I find them pretty annoying regardless, I find them okay in small doses in supporting roles (especially Apple Bloom, she's all right) but they can't carry an episode by themselves. Show Stoppers is one of the worst episodes.

AW2 and DoR would get 10s, but the first AW is still good.

The best part is in Suited for Success when Twilight mentions Orion's belt, which simultaneously brings up two difficult questions: why they have the constellation Orion unless they actually are living on earth, and why they interpret the constellation Orion as a human.

I like the part of Sonic Rainboom where there's like four Derpies on screen at once.

I think they sort of f***ed up the moral of FPK but I don't really care. That episode was never about morals to me, it's just goofy Twilight/Pinkie interactions with a lot of surprisingly effective physical comedy. They shoehorned a moral in at the end because that's what they do and even they admitted that it didn't really make any sense, but that has never been more than a minor issue to me.

15 is Feeling Pinkie Keen, that's the one with the moving company. I don't remember if Derpy shows up in 14 (Suited for Success). Yes I do know the episode numbers off the top of my head.

Haha, I love it when people get to Suited for Success (the art of the dress episode) and enjoy it. I mean, it's one thing to be watching a show about cartoon ponies, but to be watching the episode where the most girly cartoon pony sings a song about making dresses and then they have a fashion show, and then it's one of the best episodes.

What has this show done to us?

Feeling Pinkie Keen was like the first episode of the show that I watched that I really liked and I kinda don't get why everyone else seems to hate it so much. I think it's great.

Weird, ESPN2 is still on Sportscenter for me. It's funny because Sportscenter is also on ESPN and ESPN News.

Oh they just took a break, I see. I woke up and wanted to watch some late-day Wimbledon coverage and they just had Sportscenter on ESPN2 so I was like what the hell.

Why in the world has ESPN2 already stopped coverage of Wimbledon? Thank goodness for ESPN3.

While Fluttershy admittedly makes me "d'awwwww" a lot more than the rest of the cast, I like her because she's funny. Fluttershy in Bridle Gossip is probably the first thing that made me realize the show is actually good.

That's less about executive meddling and more about the people making the show, the people making the toys, and the people selling the toys all not being nearly on the same wavelength. I think they're just used to making cheap toys for little girls and aren't used to actually targetting a demographic that gives a damn about the quality and faithfulness to the show.

The "executive meddling" factor seems to be pretty low in MLP, which is a really pleasant surprise. If there is any, it's being incorporated seamlessly into the show. Like how they wanted each episode to have a moral lesson so Faust came up with the "Dear Princess Celestia" thing.

Applejack sort of fails to get good episodes dedicated to her through the season and she actually winds up being the most one-dimensional character in my opinion. The show is at its funniest when it's showing how f***ing nuts the rest of the cast is and Applejack is the only character out of the six that doesn't seem to have any real fatal flaws that can be played for laughs. Applebuck Season I guess goes for the "too stubborn" angle but it doesn't quite work for me. She's levelheaded, which is fine, but you can be levelheaded and still a little nuts, they pull it off perfectly with Twilight.

Worse: When any character, especially Twilight, says the phrase "my little ponies"

Without spoiling anything, it took Party of One to really sell me on Pinkie, but boy did it ever sell me on Pinkie.

Oh yeah, probably what I enjoy most about the show is that the characters are pretty well-written, they have strong personality traits without falling into stereotypes and they come off as surprisingly three-dimensional. Fluttershy gets a fair bit of development later. Pinkie is kind of the only one who just pretty much does her thing all the time, but like I said, she grows on you, and even she does have one particular episode where... well, you'll see. It's my favorite episode!

Rarity > Fluttershy > Rainbow Dash > Twilight > Pinkie Pie > Applejack

Pinkie Pie and Twilight are the only two I could probably swap, depending on how much of a Pinkie mood I'm in. The rest of that ranking is pretty stable. I like them all, although the only one I don't really like is Applejack. She's merely okay.

If you got through the pilot and thought that wasn't cringe-worthy, then you should enjoy the rest of the series because I think it gets more watchable from there. The second part of the pilot is probably the corniest episode. Also, Pinkie Pie originally struck me as annoying as well, but she grew on me. She got used in funnier and less annoying roles as the season went on I think.

I still feel like Sollux is going to be important. I mean, he's one of the 5-6 remaining trolls still alive, that has to count for something.

True, Sollux's typing gimmick got way less awful after he became blind.

I think Sollux has the most difficult to read typing gimmick (except maybe for Feferi) and I kind of hate him for that.

It was pretty badass of Raonic to hold serve while hopping around on one leg though.

I'm glad there's at least some salamander appreciation. There needs to be more of it. The consorts are my favorite characters, they're f***ing hilarious. I wish we would see more of Rose's and hopefully we'll see more of Jade's.

By the way, on the topic of the trolls, I think it's hilarious how far we've come with them. They started out seeming minor characters that just seemed like they were being jerks for the hell of it - I would never have guessed the dude yelling at John in all caps in the first act would later turn into my favorite character. Homestuck really has a way of turning little things into big things later though. Now the trolls almost feel like the main characters.

I know Homestuck basically works on a principle of "I will do whatever the f*** I want and throw every conventional method of storytelling right out the window" but I still think there are good and bad ways to organize and present the story. It's a minor complaint really, but I think there needs to be a break point somewhere in act 5 part 2. I think natural break points are actually really important in Homestuck, because the brain just needs a second to process what just happened, take a breath, and then move on. I'm speaking from the point of view of someone who just read the whole thing in like four or five sittings though, not serially from the beginning.

It's not a big deal though. It wouldn't really drastically change the story's presentation.

Act 5 feels like it should've been split up more. Besides the part 1 and part 2 thing, those already don't really feel related, except for the fact that we now know who all the trolls are. But just act 5 part 2 feels like it has too much story content already somehow.

Yeah I feel like Homestuck should be... not wrapping up right this moment, but it feels like it should be heading in that direction fairly soon. I mean, all of the characters are all dead or on their last life, and they all have the goal pretty much in sight at this point. Of course, Homestuck is wildly unpredictable, so anything could happen really. If he wanted this to only 20% of the story, all he has to do is make up a bunch more s***. That'd be bad, though, I think. Homestuck already took me like 20 hours to read.

Oh sure Homestuck. Go on hiatus JUST as I get caught up. See if I care!

Oh, no, I think it's fun too, to some extent anyway, although at a lot of points it spirals into migraine territory, especially when time travel is involved. Actually, I kind of think earlier Homestuck is more entertaining, when things haven't spiraled quite as far out of control and it's sticking more to its mock-adventure-game-with-insane-logic format, a pretense that it has almost entirely dropped at this point.

The Wiki is almost making things worse by giving me more things to speculate about! Although it does answer some questions.

I did read the recaps. I mean, it's not so much that I don't understand the basic plot of the story, except for all the time travelling nonsense going on - it's just, Homestuck is a really difficult read whether you think about it too much or don't think about it enough, you know? There's so much going on in between the lines, and so many new revelations with each page that drastically alter the big picture. And when you remember that this is all stuff that just one guy is making up, and the tone of Homestuck is so surrealist and goofy, it gets hard to keep track of what stuff was silly nonsense and what stuff has actual literal or symbolic meaning and purpose.

Okay so hey guys. I started reading Homestuck like a couple of weeks ago and I finally got around to catching up last night. So I'm new to this.

Am I like the only one who doesn't f***ing understand what's happening like 90% of the time but remains intrigued by it anyway and keeps reading despite the fact that each page unravels my brain just a little more? Argh, my f***ing HEAD.
