Its literally that simple
38 hours!? And I thought people were obnoxious for stretching out a video to pass the 10 minute mark for that extra ad revenue

I'm not watching anything over 10 minutes on YouTube

that's probably longer than the entire show lol
Some guys have all the luck, Some guys have all the pain
Some guys get all the breaks, Some guys do nothing but complain
The only way I can see that being 38 hours is if it was a short review of every single single episode.

I guess some people just look at YouTube as a past time of its own instead of a way to burn a few minutes.

I grumble to myself at 15 minute runtimes tbh. If it's 20, I'm generally not going to watch it, and if I do, I'll break it up into a couple of sessions.

The real problem here is the filler. The average YouTube video is packed to the brim with filler. If it's a ten minute video, at least two minutes of it is "Whatever this video is about is a thing that affects stuff in our every day life and blah blah blah", "Like comment subscribe ring the bell tell your friends and give me money on patreon" and "Ok guys before we get started, channel update that has nothing at all to do with the video."
I have a signature now so shut up

My limit is at 2 hours but, that is pushing it and more often than not I will be watching it with atleast 1.5 x speed.

Apparently this was supposed to go out on April 1, but it just took this long to upload lol.

Scanning through, it appears to all be about the Beverly Hillbillies but a lot of it is just him fooling around.

No, of course I'm not gonna watch it.

Lmao, I'm subscribed to Quinton and just saw this video on my feed, and was equally dumbfounded. It's an April Fool's joke though apparently. Skimming around it does seem to be someone going over every episode of that show I think. And it's not Quenton, it's someone else narrating.
How quaint.
If this an April Fools joke I'd consider it a winner. Shame it was uploaded late.

To be fair, there is a wide variety of content in YouTube. I've come across some absolutely hilarious podcasts on YouTube and those tend to be 1+ hours.

Do people actually watch video essays
If I'm watching a YouTube video it's 10 min at max unless I'm watching Viva La Dirt League D&D. It's one of the few exceptions.
The commercial says that Church isn't for perfect people, I guess that's why I'm an atheist.
i feel like the vast majority of people who like these things just turn them on in the background like a podcast while they do something more active.

I don't watch 4hr video essays, however it feels disingenuous to think a 38hr one is the result of 4hr ones increasingly becoming the norm. A leap from 4 to 6 hours? Ok, I can see that, but 4 to 38? Nah, this person just overvalues what they have to say.

The worst part about these ultra long video essays is that it's not even a case of them going super in depth about the underlying themes or philosophy or whatever. Usually they're just verbatim describing what happens in every scene like they're an AI describing the script

Damn, that's even worse than them giving a custom 38 hr rant.

TBF, if it was 38 hours where he never repeated himself, that'd be pretty impressive. ^_^
