The only Souls game I have no desire to replay.

It ain't as good as the first one and the lowlights are definitely the pits, but it's still fairly solid all in all by the end of the day, not to mention the lost crowns DLC giving some really neat zones and bosses.

i consider it a 10, like all souls games. from a game design perspective Scholar is downright puzzling. i cant figure out the design philosophy at play here. it's very Fromsoft though, and has my favorite character in the series

Felt worse to play at a native 60 FPS than Demon's Souls at 30 FPS via a PS3 emulator did.

It's a clunky slog that I never really enjoyed. Just a lot of uninspired bland levels and mediocre bosses

I think it's the only game in the series that you can't cheese the AI by saving and quiting, since their positions are saved where they were and they're still hostile. They also have basically no limits on their range so they'll follow you forever, meaning your attempt to avoid everything leads to you being ganged up on.

It has its own set of problems, like Soul Memory (match making is based on how many souls you collected instead of your level, DS3 made it level then further separated by your weapon level.)
It also made things feel slow with low agility (things still feel slow even when maxed) and brought back limitless healing items from Demon's Soul.

It's far from a bad game it just didn't live up to the first game and the lighting took a serious downgrade from the original gameplay trailer. I still think it's better than Elden Ring's base game.

it's the only one i actively did PvP in because of the sheer range of viable builds.

Happy Souls also raises my perception of it quite a bit.

Dark souls 3 was actually the very first dark souls game that I played, and it was my second souls type game in general. (Bloodborne was actually my first).

yeah. flawed game with some stuff in it that pissed me off like rolls i frame and other bits but overall i enjoyed it despite being the weakest DS game tho i do love how it tried to branch out compared to 3 which was more of a homage for the series from bosses to story beats
