I remember dying like 5 times in a row to one of the first bosses in HK and the runback was so annoying, and that's why I bounced off and never played it again. It's funny seeing people say this game is so much more frustrating. Like what is actually different about it? Reminds me of when Elden Ring came out and everyone was pissed that it was "too hard" because of the animation delays that broke your previous muscle memory. But what it really did was recreate the feeling of difficulty of Dark Souls 1. People got so used to being good at Dark Souls that they thought they liked it because they were good. They forgot that the initial struggle and growth was the real reason your brain got hooked on it. --- _foolmo_ he says listen to my story this maybe are last chance ... Copied to Clipboard!

Some of the quests you can complete without accepting like the miniboss hunts, others you can't. Super weird. I imagine it's going to be one of the things they tweak in patches. Probablt need to fix the economy which is my biggest complaint - it's only balanced well in the midgame. Early game you have too few rosaries and too many shards, late game you have tons of rosaries (but stuff is still VERY expensive so it's still grindy) but I keep running out of shards. Very few drops, tools get progressively more expensive as you go, and you burn through them with deaths on the hard stuff. It feels like the rocks that drop them were supposed to respawn at one point, but just...don't. This aspect of the game definitely feels balanced around the devs playing nothing but Silksong for 7 years. Anyways I rolled credits, didn't get true ending though. Still feels like I am missing tons of stuff so now the fun of secret hunting begins. My gut reaction is that it definitely feels like the first game but bigger and more grand. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, different vibe from the original which is...cozier? Less hostile? Idk. I think Silksong is better but it's hard to directly compare yet because HK benefits from having all the balance tweaks theyve yet to implement and I've just played the first game SO much. Really what its going to come down to for me is which game has the better randomizer lmao --- I definitely did not forget to put the 2020 GOTD Guru winner, azuarc in my sig! https://www.backloggd.com/u/aitchdeetee/ ... HeroDelTiempo17 posted... and you burn through them with deaths on the hard stuff. Yes this too. Games with this sort of respawn system rather than gameover/continue should not deplete consumable resources when you die to a boss and respawn. You're basically better off just pressing alt+f4 as the boss kills you, otherwise you just lose shards. (It's even worse in Tunic for example where consumable potions/bombs are a big help, but if you use them and die to the boss, now all your future attempts have to be done with zero items!) It's not that prominent in this game because it's just the shards but if I was trying to fight a boss and used all my shards and now had to fight it tool-less or go grind more shards I'd be annoyed. ... If I had to take a guess I'd wager shards are there to serve as a "punishment" for completely ignoring smaller enemies. (Or depending on perspective, a reward for *not* ignoring them.) It's very easy to do, but if you do (especially on corpse runs etc) your supply of shards (and therefore more powerful options in combat) is eventually going to dwindle while it's trivial to keep it up if you're actively fighting --- Let the voice of love take you higher, With this gathering power, go beyond even time! ... So many easter eggs if you go back to places you've been previously (I went to a fairly random place I plundered and found some new enemies who were scavenging it who dropped a lot of rosaries, given they were easy to kill). Haven't gotten to play until today. Still in Act 1. Not sure how to feel about this game so far. The rosary grind is a little annoying.
