Yes. And lmao yes, I find myself testing it, then feeling like it didn't go. Inevitably wasting a bunch.

Yes, Flonase is amazing if you have allergies. I try to evangelize. Even supposedly non-drowsy allergy meds completely wipe me out and put me in a haze, but Flonase never gives me side effects and works in like 10 minutes. I love it. Afrin is also pretty awesome for sinus congestion.

What I hate is when you have nasal congestion and the first spray or two hits the congestion and just drains back out your nose.

But once you get it passed, it definitely helps with relief.

Yep. That said, sometimes I use it after I just walked if only cause you're less stuffed up at the moment. Usually.

Afrin rebound is notorious. The topical steroids (Flonase and the like) don't have that issue.

Yeah. Problem is the kind I use that actually works only does for three days, if you try on day four it makes your congestion worse.

But for those three days where I can actually breathe its fucking magnificent

Just stay away from Afrin. Not even a single spray. Just stay away from it altogether. Flonase is the better alternative.

The different sprays have different meds that work in different ways and have different effects on everyone. There is too much variation to say what will and won't work for everyone.

Flonase, for example, fucks me all the way up. It gives me headache, sore throat, and nosebleed with very little relief. Afrin doesn't give me any relief at all but it doesn't hurt me, either.

Flonase worked great for my sister though!

Flonase has been a game changer for my seasonal allergies. It's the only over the counter allergy medicine that works for me. My allergies make me feel like I have a cold until I take Flonase, then I'm better by the next day.

It was easy to become dependent on it, at least for me. I didn't even use it for that long and suddenly I couldn't breath out of my nostril without it. I did some research and it seems to be a common thing.

Good point. Different experiences for everyone, I suppose. I just had a particularly horrible experience with Afrin.

? Why
Although the action of oxymetazoline causes short-term vasoconstriction of the blood vessels in the nose and reduces leakage of fluid from capillaries, they may be followed by rebound vasodilation and stuffiness. This rebound nasal congestion is known as rhinitis medicamentosa (RM) that is caused by the extended use of topical decongestants. Long-term use of oxymetazoline may cause the nasal tissues to permanently enlarge and not respond to medications. It may need surgical intervention to cure the blocked nose symptoms.
With regular use, some patients may develop RM in 3 days, whereas others may not have symptoms till after 4-6 weeks of use.
