Everything about the GQuuuuuuX setup and vibe is incredible, and it's enjoyable to watch, but the decision to make this a single cour show has resulted in such a pacing clusterfuck that there's just no way it's going to make a real lasting impression on me.

I was disappointed to find this was only single cour. It has been incredible so far. Sunrise seems to only really do short seasons now, even for Gundam. The last full 50 episode Gundam was IBO right? Meanwhile they milk Gundam SEED through movies. Still waiting for the rest of Hathaway but we already getting another SEED movie in the works.

If the rent a girlfriend manga ends right now it would be the funniest ending to a manga ever.

Those aren't even top 10 coldest line from Bleach. You will see when you get to Thousand Year Blood War arc.

TYBW is after you finish the main anime. There's a lot to go before you get to the end lol. You can skip filler starting from episode 64-108.

Thousand-Year Blood War is literally the final arc of Bleach. There's still 1 more season of it left to go but it's not gonna air until some time next year.

I haven't watched as much Netflix anime as I intended to. I'm keeping up with Witch Watch, but oh man the latest episode was terrible. Just absolute unfunny trash. I tried watching Delicious in Dungeon but the first episode didn't grab me at all. It was just food porn with fake food.

So, I watched a random anime movie called Maboroshi. It was weird, and mostly not in a good way. It's about a town that's stuck in time, which sounds neat, but it didn't focus on that concept in a way that interested me. Instead, it felt like it had a dozen different themes and ideas with no idea which one to focus on or how to make anything come together. It bugged me, because there was clearly a good story somewhere in here. It was made by Mappa, so the production values were good. In a vacuum, a few of the sequences were moving. They just didn't come together into a satisfying whole. I dunno, I didn't really like it.

I started watching Rising Impact, the golf anime on Netflix. I loved Birdie Wing and Tonbo, and this one is good too! Something about golf anime just vibes with me, I guess. I still prefer Tonbo overall though, even if it has bad production values.

ok, I'm gonna do it. I'm going to start watching Frieren this weekend, and if I can maintain my willpower I'll watch it the authentic way.

Going to watch one episode a weekend (probably Saturday when I eat lunch), starting this weekend that would put episode 28 at December 20. Couple of weeks off for Christmas/New Years break and then we're back with season 2 debuting, I assume, first week of January?

Ideally one episode a week will help me savor what is apparently a generational show! Also give me the chance to rewatch an episode during the week if I especially enjoyed it. I know the alternative is blitzing 28 eps over two days and I'm thinking the show wouldn't hit the same if I binged it. Though it didn't really hurt my love of LotGH but I feel like I spaced my viewing of it pretty well.

I thought about doing a Frieren watch-along topic in case anyone else wanted/needed motivation like me, to get to watching it before S2 airs, or an excuse for anyone who already watched it to re-watch, it'd be like a book club where we're all watching the same ep at the same time, lol. But it's another of those times I have an idea that's just effort to execute. Will probably pop in here with thoughts from time to time!

There was a break of a couple weeks between the airing of the first and second halves of the show.

Frieren is insanely good. If it wasn't for Apothecary, it'd be my favorite new show in forever.

Frieren is a great show from what I watched, but reading it right before watching it definitely made it so I couldn't keep at it. Was too fresh, so transitioning to anime pacing wasn't tenable for my patience. Nobodies fault but my own.

It keeps getting seasons so it will probably keep going on even longer. Never read or watched it, but have heard bits about it and have no idea how anyone follows it or how it keeps getting more seasons when I just see people complain about the series whenever I see discussion on it!

You've read the manga, so all you need to know is that it's a very, very well-done adaptation.

(Which doesn't mean you're obligated to rush out and go watch it or anything, but you can't go wrong by doing so even if you've already read it)

Finally finished season 2 of Made in Abyss

I liked the first season more but I'd still give this one a 9/10

The whole story between Vueko and Irumyuui was really cool, also pretty horrifying as Made in Abyss excels at. Faputa was a fun character. I'm a little conflicted at Nanachi's whole abandoning everyone for Mitty and sleeping for a few episodes, but she got to see this version of Mitty off on her own terms which was nice.

MIA S2 might be my favorite season of anime. The last two or three episodes are the most beautifully directed anime out there, IMO. Faputa rocks.

Started watching Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle. I didn't ever finish it after getting about 10-15 eps in about a decade ago. However, the allure of CLAMP stuff being good (namely xxxHOLIC and Chobits), and it being a Bee Train/Yuki Kajiura show has me all nostalgic for so many different reasons. I might be able to stick for the full 52 eps this time, even if the first ep was definitely on the weirder side of things. Not really sure what I'm in for here.

But Yuko's in it, so that's good enough for me.

Utterly incredible, unbelievable episode of Gundam.

But we are at a standstill of failure.

The last 5 episodes of this show should have been a minimum, MINUMUM, of 12 all on their own. This is just not tenable. Another season being announced next week would not solve this problem.

There is also no way TO reach a satisfactory ending that makes it all feel worth it in one more episode, meaning this absolutely absurd pacing was all for naught.

It just goes to show, no matter how good the a creator's content is at any given time, the suits sitting at the top in the boardrooms in charge of what to do with the Gundam franchise behind the scenes are incompetent morons.

First anime of spring cleared!

Catch Me at the Ballpark was pretty good stuff. The way they developed everyone who works in the stadium was cool, from the vendors to the fans to the players to the security guards. It feels like it'd be a neat series to just follow forever, enjoying everyone's development. Most of the specific characters that were focused on were pretty good too, especially the main character, Ruriko, but the main fan guy they focused on sucked. He doesn't have a ton of screentime, but it's definitely way too much.

Well, since I finished Made in Abyss I decided to go back to trying a completely random anime on Crunchyroll, knowing absolutely nothing about it and watching it completely blind. It didn't work out great for Taboo Tattoo, but surely I'd get something better this time around right?

Random button picked....Butareba - The Story of a Man Turned Into a Pig. Which like many isekai tells the general premise in its title, a guy gets transported to another world but as a pig. He meets a girl that he has to help on a journey. First episode, almost gets me to drop it immediately. Of course the guy's an otaku pervert, of course the girl he meets is 16 years old, of course he imagines how being a pig could be used to get closer to the girl. That's basically all that happens in the first episode, but I hold onto the 3 episode rule and decide to keep going. Turns out the first episode is the worst one, it actually starts to be sort of decent in the second episode as things actually start happening. The pervert jokes get tuned down throughout the rest of the season, not completely because of course but it's not to a point where it drowns out the rest of what's going on.

Overall, it's definitely not a great show. I don't think I'd even call it good per se, but it's fine. It's a hell of a lot better than the trash that was Taboo Tattoo, and that's all I really asked for. The main girl in it is a cute character, which helps a lot as she's basically the main protagonist even over the pig guy. The animation isn't particularly great, some of the the scenes are just still shots (especially the epilogue), and sometimes the characters just look off in some scenes. But all in all, I'm glad it got better than what the first episode gave the impression of. I'd rate it like a 6/10.

I liked Butareba quite a bit. It suffered from a super low budget and awful animation, but I thought it was an interesting idea. Having to escort Jess to the capital while people hunt her and he's literally just a pig was a unique scenario. He had to use his wits because he couldn't just use some OP isekai power to handle things.

I liked Jess enough to buy a figure of her. I'm one of the few people in the world to own a Butareba figure lol. I'm glad you randomly checked that one out and gave it a chance.

Yea, it definitely ended up being better than I thought it would be. And actually thinking about it Jess really is the perfect character for you so that makes sense haha, I do like her quite a bit.

Lots of stuff that is just too bizarre and random for me. I think i've enjoyed about half the episodes? Maybe? And none of those were amazing to me.

Damn, that's a shame. Only one up left now haha. The creativity is one of the reasons I like it so much.

I loved the first few episodes of AH I watched, but just like everything else that wasn't Gundam is got killed by THL.

I've literally yet to look at the Summer chart to see what's coming out, but hopefully not too much so I can go back to it and and a couple others.

It's just hard to convince myself to watch big chunks of stuff at once. That's why the Netflix dumps almost always fall flat.
