I'll probably enjoy more Loser Ranger, next season we get lots of time with Hisui and Chidori, both of whom are tons of fun. I'll watch Slime lvl 300 too but with much less enthusiasm. There's a good number of shows I plan to watch next season but nothing I'm passionate about. Maybe Rock is a Lady's Modesty.

How is Fire Force only on season 3? Did it go a long time between seasons?

Oh yeah if the poll is actually spring I don't think there's anything for me beyond egghead part 2 and vigilantes.

Not even sure if Vigilantes is for me but people seem to like it a lot so I'll give it a shot.

Finished up my seasonal anime.

Zenshuu - Decent but not spectacular. I enjoyed the build-up episodes, but I had hoped for more of an allegorical approach. The overall message was a bit muddied. Don't regret watching but I'll probably not remember too much of it.
Flower and Asura - A pretty boilerplate adaptation. The different character voices and intonations were done well, which seemed tricky. However it's just working off some content that isn't extremely interesting, and the anime didn't really make it more so.
Sorairo Utility - Fun enough SoL series. The protagonist ended up the weakest character, which was a bit surprising. Ayaka had a really good episode and was overall interesting, and Haruka was fun too, but Minami despite having an appealing personality seemed fairly static. I'd be interested if they did another season, at least.
Re:Zero - This season was okay. My biggest problem was simply the pacing, choosing to put all the plotlines involving the supporting cast after the Subaru and Emilia plotline was wrapped up really hurt my interest. The new antagonists were also fairly annoying. It seems like the next arc is much more highly anticipated so I'm interested to see what they have in mind since the continuation is also confirmed.
Orb - I wish I liked this more than I did, really. It could be really brilliant at some points. The ending is really hurting my estimation of it, as the conclusion of Draka's arc and then the last arc both left bad tastes in my mouth. It's undoubtedly a well made and well told story, but it didn't fully resonate with me.
Apothecary Diaries - Obviously this is continuing so I don't have too much to say, but I don't think the increased focus on Jinshi's political situation was all that interesting. Maomao is also in danger of becoming rather annoying, though I feel this might be intentional. The standalone episodes were still good and better illustrated the show's strengths.
Medalist - Really great, the best show I watched this season. There was one or two episodes that were kind of awkward in the latter half, but that's the only real criticism I can find. Really glad it will get a second season, but I will definitely be reading the manga beforehand as I want more.
Ave Mujica - Despite my complaints, still quite good, and the final episode's performances were really good, which helped end it on a strong note. Ironically it really needed that as I wasn't as big a fan of some of the earlier performances, with the reunion episode being a bit of a low point. Lots to say about the show but I came out of it with a better impression of most of the cast, especially in Mutsumi's case who was fairly obnoxious in MyGO. So it worked out for the most part. Very curious what they plan to do with the continuation.

Kind of annoyed with how good Medalist looks to have turned out based on reactions I've been seeing, because EVERYTHING was pointing to that being a shitty adaptation, and I was trying to dodge a bullet this time.

If that samurai show next season from the people who did Whisper Me a Love Song ends up being food I'm throwing my hands up.

Is there more to Medalist other than "I really wanna do this... so let me do this!!!" ?

I have a friend that really loves this show and he normally only likes action slop so I gave it a try, but I found the main character really annoying. The mom had good reasons for not putting daughter in.... and MC just seemed to be satisfying his own dreams by feeding into the kids, even though everyone knows it will probably not work out for her.

Some of the most recent chapters of Medalist literally had me staring at the pages in awe.

I do think it's good from the beginning but it it becomes a VERY emotionally charged series.

It's that same studio though so, what, this was outsourced too? It was delayed 2 full seasons (or was it 3??).

Fishman Island Remastered beated. So fast only 21 episodes. Felt rushed because a lot of the transition scenes were cut so a character would be doing one thing, then the next time we see them they're doing something completely different. Such a visual improvement though and some of the added scenes involving Joy Boy were nice. Maybe they'll fix Dressrosa next time they need to take an extended break

I started watching Kotaro Lives Alone. There's something cool about the mundanity of everyday life being shown through the eyes of this sort of character and the people living around him. I don't know what kind of show I was expecting, but I'm digging this already.

Watched the first ep of the Unaware Atelier Meister. The already cliche at this point "banished from the party" trope gave me very bad signs going in. The MC's power set and naive happiness should have gotten super old super fast, but I really found myself liking the show more as characters were introduced and started bouncing off each other. Nothing in the show is unique. It's pure junk food, but maybe it'll land for me.

My wife and I both really enjoyed that one.

BanG Dream! Ave Mujica's first four episodes were way too fast paced for me. Felt like random nonsense happening for no reason, and I didn't enjoy it at all. It was more enjoyable when it slowed down after that - felt more like MyGO. Some solid characterization there. Too bad it had to kill the yuri ship. Solid music too, though I didn't remember Tomori being that bad of a singer.

Flower and Asura seemed like a lock for my AotS for the first ten eps, but the last two had a weird story arc that didn't fit the show at all, and it ended in a poor place too. Still good, at least. The recitations are awesome, and the main cast is all quite good. More yuri bait from the Euphonium author though...

Solo Leveling S2 - This is the real shit. Before watching SL, I had zero expectations for it being good. Thought it'd be a terrible show with an OP MC, zero stakes, boring characters, etc. That was kinda all true... but also executed in the best way possible to maximize entertainment. The fights have some of the best animation in any anime ever, with truly spectacular choreography. The pacing is perfect, with constant escalation. MC actually starts off weak and gets stronger rather than being OP from the start. The cast is reasonably fun, and even has fun one-episode characters like Esil. To cap it off, Sawano did the OST, so the music's consistently top tier. For sheer entertainment value, it's right up there with Jujutsu Kaisen S2.

Toilet Bound Hanako-kun S2 - This didn't really do anything for me. I dislike most of the cast except maybe the main girl, and the main plot is awful, featuring some of the worst villains. It's good when it's doing an episodic episode, but there are almost none of those, sadly.

From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated! was funny at first, but after that it was mostly just the same joke over and over again. Nothing was offensive, and I was always at least moderately enjoying myself, but I think this is the weakest villainess show I've watched.

Don't get me wrong, I think Candy Boy is great, but due to certain laws in Japan, the writers definitely won't have them get together in S2 (S3?).

...By the time any meaningful fighting happens in this series, the MC is significantly stronger than every other hero on the planet.

Man, people's opinions of early parts of series sure do get warped by the end sometimes!

If the back two thirds of a series is terrible, it doesn't really matter to me if the first third was fine. At the end of the day it's one series and it's going to be taken as a whole.

I adore Mother's Rosario, doesn't suddenly mean I like SAO.

And don't get me started on JJK.

I don't think I've ever seen so many people miss the point of a performance than the one in episode 7.....which is appropriate, since the same can be said for jow several charactera in the show took it, too!

I suppose I remember that the home video release didn't do well in Japan, but I just kind of assumed it was doing well internationally.

JJK has substance deep down. It didn't want to let it SHINE though

Finally got around to watching Shiki and man I am burning through it way faster than I expected considering the first two episodes left me overwhelmed constantly throwing names and occupations and family relations at me. Think I got hooked on episode 3 and just finished episode 16 and that's all within past day. At this rate I'll probably finish it tomorrow, if not tonight.

Decided to watch the series after Robazoid's write-up in his anime rankdown topic and while I recall he was considerate enough to frame it as a "supernatural medical mystery" instead of revealing plot details, it was heavily implying vampires as of the first episode and all but confirming by ep 3. But then they still kept things intriguing enough with the various storylines - I remember thinking about how they would gradually grasp the concept of vampires and then the show reveals that vampires in fiction are a thing, lol - and I remember in episode 8 thinking "how are they going to stretch this out to 22 eps (plus 2 OVA eps) if they figured it out?" but wow the next 8 eps have flown right by. Very interested in seeing how it all ends, definitely no character safe and increasingly feels a "humans/main characters lose" story right now.

Shiki is definitely in that very strange category of "I cannot remember how this had 22 episodes of content for the fucking life of me", while also somehow also thinking "I don't remember this feeling stretched out in the slightest".

Shiki was awesome. Great show. I think a lot of people here have watched it, but imo one of the most overlooked anime by the anime community at large.

Apparently it's still in the top 500 by popularity on MAL though, which shocks me, but maybe more people have seen it than I think.
