The random button on Crunchyroll has become more and more dangerous as seasons continue to get more and more bloated.

When every season is 80% bad or below at best, the odds just get worse and worse!

That's why I've put EVERY show on the backlog and use a weedwhacker approach.

And I powered through it! Yep that's a bad show alright!

The only marginally good thing about it was a side character who raised his own red/death flags to survive at the end.

The teasing for second season/later manga material at the end was pretty funny considering it never got a second season. Definitely doesn't deserve it after all of that lol

Just watch Baki, Toriko or Bleach if you're only interested in aura farming and powerscaling

I'm almost a month behind on all non-Gundam anime because of The Hundred Line, including that one. Really gotta set some time aside to catch up soon.

Apocalypse Hotel still good

Just started it yesterday!

We've been trying a bunch of series with mixed success. Brilliant Healer, Hotel, and a show called Grandma and Grandpa turn young again were good. Do-over damsel and SHOSHIMIN we dropped quickly.

Just started Yatagarasu and it's interesting but has been mostly world building and character intros so far.

Hmmm, while Bleach is right up your ally for the action it's somewhat of a hard rec for main 2 reasons.

First, the original anime is 366 episodes and it's LOADED with filler. Not to mention that it's got a lot of derpy animations. Even if you were to look up a watch guide to cut out the filler, might be longer than anything you've watch before. Quite possibly around the length of Dragon Ball Kai + Super.

Second, the whole anime isn't actually finished yet. There's still 1 more season to go but they haven't announced when it's going to air, and it's already confirmed that it won't be this year.

Personally I think you should watch Jojo's Bizarre Adventures instead.

Heck, if you're still going by Hulu, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are on there. Watch those. They're considered as some of THE classics.

Of course like SHINE said, you can still start Bleach since by the time you get through it all, the final season could be up and starting.

This particular season of Demon Slayer winning best animation is pretty funny, too.

People saying the animation was falling off was literally all I heard about this season until the end, and then from that point all anyone was talking about was how hilariously DUMB the animation in the finale was with the 2 minute long Bollywood walk.

Why was Solo Leveling so praised though? I thought Frieren and Dan Da Dan were like everyone's must see shows or something.

Or were they like Apothecary and the hipster mainstream show, while Solo was, WATCH IT OR DIE" publicized thing". I know they plastered Solo on their homepage like they were fucking bankrupt if they didn't

Solo Leveling is a flashy generic power fantasy staring generic self insert man that cost $5 billion to make and has a baller soundtrack. It's designed to appeal to the masses. Yes, the anime community loves Freiren and Dandadan, but Solo Leveling is the anime being watched by the people who also only play Madden and Call of Duty, who far outnumber them.

So, the stuff CR would go Gamer Awards for rather than recognizing taste.

I've never once seen where to even vote for crunchyroll awards I assume it's some secret process like choosing a new pope

It's easy to vote, but it has the dumb thing where you can vote every day for two weeks or whatever.

Voting also opened shortly after Solo Leveling S2 ended, which doubtless had a major influence on SL S1's success here. It's silly how much influence they let the public have - they could've just had the critics vote Frieren as the winner and everyone would've been happy, since that series is popular with casuals too.

SL is great though and is better than most CR Awards winners

I've watched 3 episodes of SL because one of my friends loves it and it is perfectly serviceable. Wouldn't say it should win a bunch of awards but eh the general public likes what it likes

Hello everyone, it is I, Robazoid. I stopped watching anime last September when I got hit with really bad insomnia for months on end. I just couldnt focus on anime (or anything, really, those months suuucked). The insomnia still hasn't gone away, but it has gotten a bit more manageable. I no longer have Crunchyroll or Hidive, but I visited my brother recently and I get to leech off his Netflix account for a month! For the first time in awhile, I watched an anime.

I caught up on the currently airing Witch Watch. It's not bad, but I'm not loving it either. There have been a few funny segments, but a lot of them sucked. One episode, half of it was side characters fangirling about a nonexistent manga, super boring. Then the second half was about another side character going to the bathroom, I mean wtf. I kinda like the main trio, but it still feels like they haven't really found their dynamic. I dunno, kind of a mediocre return to anime for me, sadly.

I should probably watch Blue Box or something next.

Netflix has actually gotten quite a good amount of anime in the past year. Orb is probably their most acclaimed series. Not totally sure it'd be for you, though - there's a fair amount of torture and death. Personally, I liked it a good amount.

Dandadan's another big one, though S1 ends on a cliffhanger and S2's not out until July.

If you want something lighter, there's always Rilakkuma and Kaoru, though it has a different style to it.

I recently rewatched Violet Evergarden, and goddamn, I'm still crying thinking about it. Probably my favorite Netflix anime at this point.

So after having watched Taboo Tattoo, I'm switching gears since I realized I should watch some more stuff on Hi-Dive....and started Made In Abyss, something that's been on my to-watch list for years!

First episode down and the sheer astronomical jump in quality going from Taboo Tattoo to this is wild lol

It's amazing how well-made anime can be.

Just watched a video discussing the most recent Crunchyroll Awards and had one of the judges talking about how the voting worked this year, and they apparently almost completely changed it from previous years to the point that the judge's votes barely meant anything and it was almost entirely fan voted lol

So yea Solo Leveling sweeps easy with a system like that

Honestly the music might be the most impressive thing about it so far, not that the other elements are slouching either but the music is super great. And looking at awards around its release time, seems like it got its recognition for that!
