I used to hang out on those streets where the plane crashed all the time when I had a friend live right on them in High School and College. He hasn't lived there in a long time though.
My other friend also lived a couple more blocks away but moved to slightly less right there, my guess is that he probably heard the boom as his new home is like a half mile away.

Constitution generally requires states to comply with extradition requests from other states, but NY has a shield law protecting doctors from this kind of thing so I expect SCOTUS to strike NY's law down as unconstitutional so they can jail a doctor and create a massive chilling effect across the country.

I constantly see signs here that say things like "PRAY FOR RAIN" and "is growing food a waste of water?" so my expectations are low for them to have a realistic handle on the subject

Yeah, I drive an hour on Sundays through a pretty rural farming area and there's a ton of those.

There's one in Spanish that I'm pretty sure said something about Newsom and Pelosi being responsible for the worst inflation in decades.

Many of them seem to believe that there is an infinite amount of ground/well water available and the rules regarding over pumping are just there to make their lives difficult.

Or they know that's not true and they don't care about how unsustainable their behavior is as long as they can personally benefit.

Just to give my take on this, I remember finding the idea that college is not a great idea for everyone agreeable, because I graduated in a supposedly-booming field and found I had no prospects for employment. Part of this is due to my own circumstances, but that situation is not one you want to find yourself in, so I can understand people just not making the investment of time and (likely borrowed) money and trying to make a living without it.
And I see that this can apply to anyone, not just men, but I think there may be something to the idea beyond a reaction to more women in college.

I read the second article. It's fairly spot on. I think the terms patriarchy and toxic masculinity are correct and helpful for some folks but I think end up being polarizing. I think at this point patriarchy is a loaded term. But I think a lot of men would understand if you said something like "men are are punished for being vulnerable".

In my men's discussion group, one common thing that comes up "If I tell my wife I am stressed about something, she is very supportive. But she will avoid bringing it up ever again because it stressed me out once." I'm sure it happens with men talking to men as well.
