Baldur's Gate 3 and Astro Bot both achieved top-10 status!

FFXIV lost points because of its crappy 1.0 version.

Love it but it has balance issues. Granted they did updates I haven't played but I beat 5BC so I doubt much is too different besides which weapons are the good ones.

The gameplay is really good, perhaps superior to the other games I'll mention here even, but it feels a little too RNG on just using what you luck into as opposed to a game like Hades or Slay the Spire where you can sorta make a "build" during a run. That's not to say those games also don't have their share of RNG but I do feel they're better at building up. You feel like more than the sum of your parts in those games, less than the some of your parts here.

Too many weapons are straight up unviable, particularly for bosses. That wouldn't be so bad if you didn't necessarily need to rely on a late good draw to be at an appropriate level AND have it build compatible (unless it's legendary or colorless).

Also Malaise was a bit much but I think they toned some of that down really later on? Maybe it was shields not accumulating it?

Well, like I was saying it's more that you have to rely on the weapon level of a late drop to an extent that combines to make that bad. If I draw a really good item in Isaac or weapon in FTL at the beginning of the run or the end, it still helps all the same for the most part. Therefore, if the entire back half of those run gives me nothing, it may not matter if the front half gave me everything I need. In Dead Cells, they could give me the consensus best weapon (whatever that is now) right at the start but that will still drop off and need replacing.

On top of that, compare it to Enter the Gungeon which is very intentionally filled with mediocre or even joke guns, but you're intended to make use of (most of) them in less dire situations and save ammo for your good weapons. Dead Cells is not built like that at all. You're very limited in what you carry, and no reason to hold back. So what you carry needs to be as good as possible.

I don't know how Nightreign will work exactly, but imagine the weapons are like the weapons we know from these games, but the weapon level is based on how far the run is. Then imagine the back half of the run keeps giving you broken swords and ladles. That's what Dead Cells feels like sometimes.
