One of my favorite games due to nostalgia, but I can't overlook some of its more glaring issues to give it a higher rating than that.

Lets put it this way: the game released in my region in 2013 and made my too 10 for the year despite almost 20 years of advancements. Still really fun with a great world.

Sorry, I've never been able to get into it. Not when it was new, not when I revisited it to try to understand its popularity, and not when I tried a third time to see if it'd help me appreciate Mother 3 more. I'm just not into the style of humor and the gameplay is just alright... there are definitely worse turn based RPGs, but this series clearly isn't for me.

Zany Dragon Quest with kids set in a psuedo-American setting was something I really couldn't wrap my head around being possible in '95. The personality of the game really shines through.
I'd be interested in a battle system really utilizing the HP wheel this game has for last stand type strategies assuming you can input fast enough. Otherwise, the gameplay is pretty basic.

Out of curiosity, for the people with low rankings, did you drop it before getting the second party member? I wouldn't blame you because the early game is undeniably a slog.

For this topic series, I'm not rating a game I haven't beaten (or what could pass for having played enough of the game to experience it in its entirety, like Rocket League). EarthBound's aesthetic and ideas never quite jibed with me and I didn't enjoy the gameplay in comparison to other games of the time.

yeah I nominated this because it was a SNES/Genesis game which this series hasnt touched yet and probably the most likely one to have a high variance

gameplay wise its simple enough, more just quirky dialog wise

I finished it all three times. Since I like turn based RPGs and comedy games, I've given it every possible chance at various stages of my life and it's just not for me.

Its held back from higher because honestly the combat and exploration is just not the best, but what it does absolutely nail is setting, story, humor, and atmosphere. There's simply nothing else like this series out there.

I will note that I probably would've rated Earthbound around 1 point lower if I didn't play it on emulator with fast-forward to speed things up every now and then.

Not that I was one of the lowest, but I am one of the meh votes-- if we are keeping score

By the way for me it's not just that Earthbound is kind of a slow game, I also just didn't really like the style of the game much which seems to be a draw for most people - I can see why people would like it but I found it sorta unpleasant for some reason
