Ninja Gaiden 3/RE- Combat is slower and bosses are lame, save for the Regent, but Steel on Bone and Karma Glitch save it. Its enjoyable until the final boss.

Monster Hunter 3 and it's sub-versions with the underwater combat. MH is my favorite game series ever but 3 is one i'd never want to revisit just because of how bad the underwater stuff is.I do think monster hunter 3's underwater combat is a cool concept that was held back by the hardware at the time. Like when I think monster hunter as a profession I think these hunters trying to grapple on to these kinds of monsters even if the mons drag them through the air or sea just to take them down. (Reminds me of that one fight against the super walrus from that wolf's rain anime, lol). With that said yeah the controls for it in the classic gameplay style was kind of ass. (I was a lance user and so while it wasn't as bad for me I def. did not even bother trying to use other weapons if I knew a underwater fight was coming up). I do believe that capcom can pull off this concept way better with the more modern monster hunter world and monster hunter rise control style and so I would love for them to give the underwater thing another go. --- GTag:MadDogg730 PSN:lMadDogg NNID:xMadDoggx NS friend code:5313-0564-0819 Go buy cyber shadow like right now. ... Is Lord of the Rings The Third Age considered a gaming black sheep? Cuz LotR isnt exactly a gaming franchise, but it is very different from the other LotR games out there. And I know its supposedly a Final Fantasy clone but, God, I started playing it again and its sooo fun and addictive

Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
The very linear but very awesome Breath of Fire game where you lose points if you save the game (not quicksave, but save-save as an anti-death checkpoint), and if you use your Dragon powers too much, it's also an automatic game over as the counter has a running tally. But, the combat is fun and tactical. I love the dystopian setting. Bosch is an amazing villain you love to hate, much like Algus from FFT. The cel shaded graphics are pretty awesome, and there's rogue-like replay value. Skyward Sword was a great Zelda. The linearity wasn't that bad and I never had issues with the motion controls. Still the best iteration of Zelda as well imo.
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin is just as good as DS 1 and 3. The only complaint I have is the world not feeling connected. Super Mario Bros 2... but I played it before SMB3 was a thing. So picking up enemies rather than stomping on them was just evolution. Growing up in a time where I was able to play all three SMB games in order, SMB2 was always my favorite of the three, probably becasue of what you said, picking up and throwing enemies, as opposed to just jumping on them, along with the game moving horizontally AND vertically made it feel like such an advancement from SMB1 --- You gotta laugh. If the next game continued in that direction, I'd get it.And I thought I was the only person who liked Youngblood. Like you said, it definitely have flaws (especially when it was first released, pre-patched) and it can be tedious/repetitive as hell, and the lack of a strong story throughout (which is a big part of what I play the new Wolfenstein games for) and some of the story choices they went with were disappointing. But the gameplay was fun enough that it carried me all the way through to the end. I'm not a fan of Indiana Jones at all, but I'm at least happy for the people who are excited for the new game.
