I am not a Kingdom Hearts fan; I have absolutely no fucking idea if this means Kingdom Hearts 1, 2, and 3 are coming to Steam or not

Now to wait for the entire series to be $20 on Steam

yes, plus re:chain of memories, birth by sleep, and dream drop distance

I've talked to so many people over the years who are huge PC gamers yet are totally unaware KH was on PC at all until now. Hell, I've forgotten myself on occasion! Epic is a complete black hole and I'm super excited these games are finally free of it.

They are. The first title, 1.5+2.5 Remix, is both PS2 games, the remake of the GBA game, the PSP game, and movie versions of the DS games. The second one, 2.8, is the 3DS game, a movie showing some background story from the browser/mobile game, and a prologue to 3. And then the third one is 3 plus its DLC.

This is the only clear explanation I've gotten about what these games means and I'm still confused somehow lol

Like the fact that II.8 or whatever is like just some 3ds game and a movie but is given equal billing to the one that's like the first two games and several other games has me so confused

It's due to the original release timing. Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5 were originally full-priced PS3 games. Then they were released as a PS4 collection. Then 2.8 came out. Then 3 came out. There would probably be a different arrangement if they were being newly collected.

Well the first title is itself a collection of two collections, 1.5 (KH1 and Re:Com) and 2.5 (KH2, BBS, and the other game movies). 2.8 also has a new playable scenario in addition to DDD and the movie.

Maybe posting the box arts would make it better to go with the explanations.

Even better is there's a "the story so far" ps4 release that had 1.5, 2.5 and 2.8 included. So like, it's that + 3 w/ its dlc.

...if course I have that which means I've got the games on PS2, 3, and 4 so, not going to need those steam releases, but nice they're going to be out there now.

I played like an hour of DDD and had to quit because I hated every second of it. Maybe I was just in a bad mood, but coming off how much I enjoyed BBS, it was a big disappointment.

On one hand, that trailer was nice enough to show each game in chronological order. On the other hand, it's super spoilery!

I'm a big fan of the KH2 randomizer, so it'll be nice to get this for the randomizer alone.

2.8 is the only non-mobile KH game I havent played and I will whenever I do my broader KH series replay and yeah... not really excited or looking forward to DDD or the extra Aqua thing

DDD is cool for a bunch of reasons

I prefer BBS's system to it but there's still a bunch of fun to be had with DDD

DDD actually added back a sense of exploration to the worlds after 2 and BBS shrunk them down into more linear areas. It deserves credit just for that. But also TWEWY cameos and monster collecting/raising are also bonuses.

Does KH3 even have any FF representation?

Ah I was under the impression the worlds would be lacking which tends to happen with handheld-to-console remasters? So that's good to hear!

Yea that's definitely the case for BBS as much as I love that game. There's only so much they could do with a PSP in 2009-2010

DDD is honestly one of the best games in the series, despite its many, many, problems.

I played the original KH around when it came out and KH2 around when it came out. I haven't touched the series otherwise in well over a decade, and haven't particularly had a desire to. Felt kinda tired of the formula while playing KH2. Still, at least I can claim to have played 2/3 of the main series. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to playing 3.

They dropped it pretty quickly in the series. DDD had a boss fight where it returned, but it wasn't as bad.

They really need to fix these and just put all of the full games on them instead of poorly constructed cutscenes.

Minus the mobile games which considering plot(yes i know shut up) they really should just remake into games to make sense.

Honestly the underwater combat wasn't bad.

It was Ursula in particular that was bad.

But really the KH1 boss design wasn't great in general.

KH has a ton of games worth playing for gameplay reasons...and a bunch of games you play in spite of the gameplay. KH2, KH3, ReCoded, Chain or ReChain and 0.2 Fragmentary Passage all fall into the former camp. KH1, 358 Days, BBS and DDD all fall into the latter. I think all of them except maybe 358 days are worth playing one way or another, just be aware of the misses in gameplay ahead of time.
