I never watched it. I sorta thougt, if you were gonna make a spinoff of Family Guy, you could at least pick a better character.

'Ok'

I could pick out a few of the secondary characters that were memorable (the large woman in the motor scooter was one).

Unlike Family Guy with Meg or American Dad with Klaus, there wasn't a standout character (other than Cleveland) that makes you want to tune in when they get a episode all to themselves. Rylo maybe had one or two good episodes where he was the center. Cleveland Jr mostly made me feel bad for him whenever he was the focus.

At its core, the Cleveland show was adequate at being a sitcom about family (matters). It needed more goldfish rapping or young ladies trying to find a Santa claus just to sit in his lap.

It was good, better than american dad. Cleveland is pretty funny I just couldn't get into any of the characters in the other show.

It was about the same as family guy.

Still can't top American Dad.

It was solid. I hated it as it aired, but after watching reruns on TBS for a while, it grew on me. There's some genuinely good and quotable moments and episodes.

Plus I swear there's like 9 Thanksgiving episodes which is funny to me.

I'm a big Family Guy fan. Like I have enjoyed all of Family Guy not just "The first 3 seasons" I still think Family Guy is good. I love the whole series.

But outside a few youtube clips I have never watched an episode of the Cleveland Show. Just never interested me and I haven't caught reruns of it all over the place like I do other shows.

Somewhere between good and great. The later seasons were better than the early ones. About on par with modern Family Guy.

Bad to okay. The biggest issue is that none of the characters truly stood out. Oh sure there's a talking bear, but I can't even remember his name much less what he even did.

Funniest joke I remember is when mom turned took away the remote and told the kids they'd get it back after the chores were done. Rylo asks what he's supposed to do now before finding a book. andthrowing it to turn the TV back on.

"Don't laugh America. Don't laugh."

A quote that sadly ended up being a bit too accurate for the show as a whole.

So much this. It is exactly why I brought up Klaus from American dad. If you have a talking animal, you really have to up your game to make it stand out.

As for what the bear did, he was Cleveland's co-worker and I believe it was for a cable company.

It was alright, but always felt really forced or unnecessary. Maybe more bearable than Family Guy at times, but obv nowhere near as good as something like American Dad.

Great opening theme but the show was bad

I can't remember a single "good" episode

I legitimately thought it was a joke when it was first annouced.

Quagmire can't carry imo. He's largely about his gimmick and he's always taken it to extreme levels. They'd either have to tone it down to Johnny Bravo levels (Which would be quite a feat considering Johnny is usually well meaning and Quagmire is a serial rapist), or go all in on his piloting job.

Ultimately the same issue with Cleveland. They both work as supporting characters, but being the main focus?

They make that actual observation themselves (can't remember if was in TCS itself or on FG).

The central gag of The Cleveland Show is, in effect, the show itself - seriously, "All these characters we have, and Cleveland is the one to get a spinoff?!" is meant to be funny because it's so unlikely and nonsensical. Which would have been fine for a one-off, but making a show that is in effect its own punchline isn't really sustainable (I was gonna make a pithy comment about how it would be like actually making a series out of one of the entries from the Simpsons Spin-off Showcase, but I would unironically watch the shit out of the Clancy And Seymour buddy cop show, so...)

I do think it was crap, but I also think they actually did well to keep it going as long as they did.

The nicest thing I can say about that show is that I thought it was semi nice that when the show died they didn't just kill off the dudes family and shove him back to family guy, I mean they don't talk or get screen time but you could say the same for Joe both these guys have lives and families like Peter but they only show up as background fillers

eh, it was fine i guess...

Cleveland may not be the most funny or interesting character out of the gang but he has his moments.

anyway, i remember people asking at the time for a Quagmire spinoff. i dunno if i could stomach a whole show about him. he works better as a side character. lol

Its a show that gets wayyyyyyy better once the personalities and archetypes were solidified.

Its a much more zany and u hinged show than Family Guy.

Donna becomes really funny as it goes on. The humor of the show becomes pretty back-handed and it knows the entire premise is dumb, so anything goes.

Frap Attack is funny because it is so mundane and then goes way too far.

Haven't seen a lot of it, but I always thought of it as a King of the Hill type of deal where being very plain and mundane is part of the humor. Exept KotH is obviously caricaturizeing Texans, while Cleaveland is... non-specific boring people?
