Resisted urge to tag MZero which is my instinct whenever Japan is mentioned, and then saw he was in the topic already, lol. Nice.

I hate hate hate humidity and love a nice "dry heat" locale so the Florida to New Mexico tradeoff sounds appealing. You'll need to do a new job search too or can stay with your current company? You work in I.T. and had that outsourcing thing happen recently, right?

I met a girl from New Mexico that talked about New Mexican food frequently... it was just Tex Mex with green chilies instead of jalapenos.

I love Albuquerque /Santa Fe. Only reason I wouldn't want to stay there is drought reasons. Everything else I loved.

My wife and I got married in a part of Albuquerque called Old Town, so yes lol.

Yeah the weather is my 2nd favorite thing about the state (the first is the food).

Once my wife gets her actual orders cut, Im going to try to see if I can use those and my clout to either get transferred to a new team like Engineering or volunteer to be Southwestern region (which would need to be created) team lead. Technically our parent company has offices there, but I dont want to go to the parent company if I can help it.

Albuquerque is imo a Top 5 food city in the US, not just because of green chile either.

I drove through Albuquerque a couple times, and I always thought the city looked very clean. Usually you see trash on the side on the road, and stains on the underpasses and stuff, but everything there just looks nice and clean.

Accent paint on concrete, I dunno. I never stopped there on my travels, but I always wanted to. Good luck!

they would also have your head for spelling it 'chilis' instead of 'chiles'. very fussy about this sort of thing here.

well unless they're complaining to me in Spanish, I don't really mind that I just used an English word while speaking English, and I will very likely tell them to get bent in English too...

how do they pronounce "chiles" anyway?

I plan on dragging out my Florida residency as long as I can because of no state income tax, and yeah there are some huge things on the ballot this year.

Also, I'm crafting an offer on a house! I'll post pics if it gets accepted.
