Capcom usually removes it after a few months, unlike Atlus. Probably day one though.

How many times have they removed it since they started adding it to everything after that one guy had the nude mod in a SF tournament?

Yes. Enigma is allegedly for keeping people from modifying the game, which itself doesn't actually stop people. Denuvo is the crappy anti-piracy software that requires you to go online and is a performance hog.

Like Enigma is so useless the mods I had installed for Battle Network still worked.

Iirc the original ps3 version also got microtransactions when dark arisen came out. So this isn't surprising.
Edit: nevermind, microtransactions for rift crystals, gold, and discipline points were in the base game. Dark Arisen just introduced more stuff to buy while making some of the previously sold stuff free (additional quests and the like were handled as microtransactions).

Denuvo has only been cracked by like 3 people. One is a neurodivergent terf that speaks like lex luthor (empress), the second is a trans woman named fitgirl, and the third one only cracks madden games.

Given how the Pawn system is one of the main draws of the game, this sounds about as fair as being anti-cheat in any game where players don't directly interact with each other, but there's online leaderboards and whatnot.

It's a really bad mix of "badly done", "hypocrysy" and "overblown shitstorm".

They put in the same consumable as DLC multiple times, because that's how these stupid market places work. Instead of some ingame purchase of "This stone costs 1/ piece", they had to sell stone A to E so you can buy up to 5 stones.

Suddenly there are 7 DLC for "Rift Crystals", total 20, but they are just the same stuff multiple times and in different quantity.

It's annoying, but it's not as bad as a first glance make it look like.

But then we have that fast travel problem.

First talking about how unnecessary Fast travel is, and that traveling should be made fun by the game designers, only to SELL fast travel is... bold.

"Good and fun game design doesn't need fast travel" <> "Lol, if you think our traveling isn't fun, pay extra".

Original Dragon's Dogma had pretty bad MTs too IIRC rift crystals required online people recruiting your pawn or purchasing through microtransactions. The teleport stones were single use unless you bought the infinite one with real money.

Dark Arisen version removed the MTs, added ingame version of farming rift crystals and made the infinite stone free.

People kind of forgot about the original because their experience of the game was with the Dark Arisen version

Never. The last person that was cracking denuvo games hasn't cracked a game since 2019 because they're busy with other things, allegedly working for the NSA.

Unless a royal fuck up happens like someone accidentally leaks a drm free exe file this game will not be cracked.

I don't really see the relevancy of "DD1 also had mtx", that game shouldn't have had it and neither should this one.

Anyways, if it's anything like the first game you'll find port crystals as the game progresses, and you'll be capped at how many can be active. Buying them would just be getting them early, and you still have to go to places yourself before you can set a crystal there and teleport to it. Seems like an irrelevant thing to be mad about imo. All this is assuming the systems are still the same from the first game.

I'm not saying it means the second game should have them because of it, I'm just reminding people that they kind of view the first game through rose-tinted glasses and should have been able to see this coming. Especially considering Capcom's recently been putting MTs in basically all of their games like RE4make.

seeing a lot of folks who never played the first game surprised that portcrystals exist.

they're kinda -bad- fast travel. One way, single location.

Capcom's way of dumping 300 1$ "you don't need to grind this" microtransactions is grating but I'll take that over the more traditional "we removed the feature to resell it to you" ones. Would prefer none, but that's not what we get with modern AAA gaming

I remember in the first game, before the first major update, where you only got 1 port crystal near the end of the Main Quest and had to basically walk everywhere, uphill both ways.

It wasn't until later that they made it "easier" and looking at these micro transactions, they look like the ones in MH... where it's a 1 pop shot, so you can only buy each one once. It's literally for idiots that can't be bothered to play the game for more than a few hours, to gain essentially no benefit. It's more like an "I messed up real bad" thing. Though, I do agree it's kinda dumb that they exist... but it's totally unneeded, unless you really really need a bump of rift crystals, because I almost assure you with them being labeled A, B, C, you can only buy that dlc ONCE, and you better not mess up those 1500 rift crystals or you're really screwed.

Somehow I think how they handle it is even worse, as on one hand you can literally ignore them. However, if you rely on them, you're quickly left in a dead end after getting each pack.

I don't really think changing proton versions is extreme. It's not like they were trying to swap cards and CPUs for benchmarks (something that also happened)

I've always had issues playing on PC. I prefer consoles because I don't like constantly fiddling with settings and parts crapping out on me, which happened all the time, and I don't have the knowledge to fix them and don't want to have to learn

Consoles just work. May not be as pretty or have as much freedom, but there's something to be said for not having to worry about all that shit and just playing the game without getting frustrated

And yes most of that is just my experience

That's partly why I prefer console as well.

If a game doesn't work on PC there's a bunch of different things I have to check and a lot more troubleshooting I have to go through.

If a game doesn't work on console the game was just poorly optimized
