  1. No response was formulated to the Biden age issue.
  2. There's been no discussion of what Biden's second term agenda actually is or what he's gonna do to help people. Yes, Trump will do terrible damage, but politics involves a combination of positive and negative, and there's been no focus on the positive.
  3. He's losing young voters and many others with his age and his response to the war on Gaza
  4. Many Democrats have convinced themselves that polls showing Biden consistently down are inaccurate and he's actually up, despite historical evidence to the contrary.

Democratic responses seem eerily similar to 2016 where no positive case is made for the Democratic candidate and the entire focus is on how bad Trump is. We've ended up not talking about the positives and shouting down any discussion of the negatives.

People's only response seems to be browbeating the left and voters that call attention to these issues. That has a cap though. The fear based argument only works on people who view the world accurately, and many many Americans don't due to not paying attention to politics or paying attention to the wrong things. The conspiracy theorists, Christian nationalists, racists, habitual Republican voters etc are automatically enough to get Trump 9/10ths of the way to victory. It also doesn't account for the reality that people need to vote FOR something or at least feel their vote is not disgusting. You can insult people for that all you want, call them naive, stupid, whatever, but that's not going to help Biden win.

With inflation, interest rates, the war in Gaza, Biden's age, and lack of positive case being made, we're clearly falling into the gap of not enough enthusiasm FOR Biden to counter the right wing bloc.

And I'm terrified. It's going to be a disaster for the working class, every vulnerable group here and abroad. I'll probably get fired from my job. I don't want this to happen, but it seems like it will at this point.

Biden will win by an even bigger margin than last time. This one is already over. I think most people that even vaguely pay attention see this coming.

I wish this was true. Trump is far worse and seems like he might legitimately have dementia at this point. But even a huge portion of Democrats feel Biden is too old. Much less the electorate at large. That's the perception, regardless of the reality, and the perception is enough to make it an issue on the margins. It saps excitement, it limits the upside in the minds of voters. We can't wish this away, we can't dismiss it, we can't simply declare that it doesn't matter. Because it does to people.

Yes, of course, I always vote and I've never voted anything else and never will, until the Republican Party is defeated and a true leftist party is created. But I'm not the issue. The voter in Pennsylvania who only votes in Presidential years and jokes about Biden being too old in their discord server is. The young TikTok addict is. Your suburban aunt with a high grocery bill this month is. The Palestinian American down at the mosque in Detroit is.

This simply telling people to "vote blue" and "Trump is worse" is not an effective strategy, or we'd be in Hillary Clinton's second term right now. You get that right? You guys HAVE to do something else.

It's because people like you have such a blas attitude about an impending catastrophe and refuse to change up strategy in response. The topic keeps popping up because it's incredibly important, the election is getting closer, and the worst outcome is seemingly becoming more and more likely. Yes, people are going to continue to talk about that.

Once again the democrats are fumbling their counter strategy and handing him victories he never should have gotten. They literally took him off the ballot as a symbolic gesture, and now the Supreme Court slapped them down 9-0.

Trump now has that ammunition to run on. That 9-0 court decision in his favor is going to run very well in campaign ads, even if the truth is that he's still under legal trouble in dozens of other cases and situations.

If Trump loses 30 cases, but that one case still stands as a 9-0 victory, all he has to do is go up there in front of his followers and brag about that 9-0. His followers will eat it up, spread it around, use it as proof that they're "still not tired of winning."

It was a massive, massive blunder to do that.

1. No response was formulated to the Biden age issue.

There has been some, such as his appearance on Seth Myers where he looked pretty good. Unfortunately this wasn't juicy enough for the media to cover as a whole, and "Biden old" gets more clicks. I can only hope that the Trump becoming demented story carries as many clicks for them.

2. There's been no discussion of what Biden's second term agenda actually is or what he's gonna do to help people. Yes, Trump will do terrible damage, but politics involves a combination of positive and negative, and there's been no focus on the positive.

Again this is out there - and not being covered by the media at all. All we care about is culture wars apparently.

3. He's losing young voters and many others with his age and his response to the war on Gaza

Probably the most dangerous thing right now - he's made attempts for ceasefires which is hopefully good enough for most people. But a large portion of the base is essentially radicalized and some are even becoming anti-semetic. Genuinely very worrying.

4. Many Democrats have convinced themselves that polls showing Biden consistently down are inaccurate and he's actually up, despite historical evidence to the contrary.

The polls just don't seem to follow any other evidence we see. Trump is less popular than ever with his base. Republicans lose every special election despite what polls say. All of Trump's picks got smashed in elections. Polls are saying black voters are supporting Trump in record numbers. Why? There's just something fishy here. Regardless, they need to take the polls seriously.

It would help if the media would stop giving Trump attention AGAIN at every turn. There's also a pretend "balance" thing now where every time they shit on Trump they need to mention Biden's age to appear "fair". It's like they can't help themselves because the outrage money is in Trump. Disturbing stuff

This dismissive attitude isn't helping anything. People think he's old, that influences votes. You can disagree, but the electorate disagrees with you in turn.

Trump will be worse on Gaza, but the Biden has himself been horrible, and Republicans win when it's considered a battle between two horrible options rather than one good one and one horrible one. That's what happened in 2016, it's the only way they can win.

I have been posting on this website for almost two decades now and have never made a same thing both sides argument. The Republican Party is the concentration of all the worst elements of American culture and shouldn't exist, there is no equivalence between them and the Dems. But unfortunately, that's not how many people see it, on the left, right, and center. Enough to lose an election over. The point is to create a positive contrast and the Dems have not done that enough this time.

The primaries are mostly irrelevant, I'm not hanging anything on them.

The polls are not just one poll. It's a steady drumbeat that's showing the same patters of being behind or failing with specific demographics that are crucial. It's suicidal to respond to this by assuming that there's no problem. Special elections and midterms are a different electorate, focused on different people and different issues and polls taken at this time of the year have generally correctly predicted the winner in PRESIDENTIAL elections. That is a cause for concern in all rational people.

My proposal is to focus on economics and abortion, to stop the war in Gaza, and to figure out some way to minimize the age discussion.
