Why is that logo so faded? and... dare I say... black and white?

X and Y were such good games up until the second Gym. Lots to explore, varied environments, gentle pace.

Then they hurtled towards the end like they had just remembered they had something better to do, leaving behind loose ends and unanswered questions.

The generation most in need of some love and attention.

(I just wish Megas weren't so ugly. They ruin some great looking Pokmon with their silly 'more spikes' design policy).

If it was gen 2 or gen 5, those gens' fans would show up and hold them to some high expectations.
But it's Gen 6 fans they're appealin to. The games where quite a few people agree the series went downhill fast.
Cause for concern?

So no actual gameplay shown. And the premise of being entirely in one urban city sounds really weird for a Pokemon game.

I know the trailer showed no gameplay, but it's strange seeing a horde of Sandile/Krookodile in the city.

Also, a number of pokemon that had megas were shown in the trailer.

Gyrados, Absol, Heracross, and Pinsir were the ones I spotted.

Pretty much. I'm guessing it'll be a launch title for the next system but also release on the current Switch. So the delay on the Switch 2 might actually be a blessing because it gives Gamefreak more time to work on this game.

Yeah and it sounds like it confirms that whatever the next console is is still going to retain the "Switch" moniker.

Which kind of suggests that Nintendo learned nothing from the Wii/Wii U disaster >_>

Black/white didnt get skipped. This isnt a remake of X/Y.

I wouldn't be mad if B/W did get skipped though. The sprite work in that game is absolutely immaculate, whatever they do to "modernize" it would just fuck it up

Tbh a lot of the issues with X/Y couldve easily been resolved with a third version or sequel. Most other generations took advantage of this in some capacity.

The last legends game had mixed starters from different gens. You think they'll do that again? Or will they try to get people to like the gen 6 starters by giving them megas?

What are the odds they put a gen 1 starter in? On one hand it'd destroy the other two's chances of getting picked so maybe they won't. On the other hand the Charizard favoritism has become shameless so it could easily happen.

depends on if they include every single Pokemon that got a mega in XY/ORAS. that might preclude the Gen 1 and 3 starters from getting new evos like the Legends trio did.

Hopefully, this time breeding is in the game. Also the Pokdex entries consist more than catch x amount of Pokmon, use move x amount of times, etc....

Entirely in Lumoise City seems like a wierd choice. There has got to be some sort of catch enabling catching and exploring.

Arceus was set entirely in Jubilife village. No difference here.

Jubilife is the only major settlement sure but its not the only setting.

My guess is they'll do mixed starters at the start of the game but also include the gen 6 starters and give you one of them for free partway into the game. It would be a throwback to how X/Y gave you a gen 1 starter as a second starter partway into that game too.

As for which mixed starters... I don't think they'll use any of the other Johto/Unova/Alola starters because those were represented in the first PLA, and I don't think they'll use any Paldea starters so soon after S/V, which leaves the Kanto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Galar starters as possible options. I'll make my preliminary guess and say Charmander, Piplup, Grookey, and we get a new Mega Charizard Z, Mega Empoleon, and Mega Rillaboom along with them. Then we also get mega evolutions of the three Kalos starters too.

That's a possibility too. If they include all of those by default, then I don't think any of the Kanto or Hoenn starters would be among the mixed starters in this game. In that case, I guess they could use a Paldea starter for the third slot, which could lead to something like Piplup/Scorbunny/Sprigatito as the starter trio.

I had two hopes for this presentation:
1) they would announce a new Legends game
2) they wouldn't rush the damn thing and release it this year

I am a happy camper right now.

Also confused at people who seem to think the game is going to take place entirely in a city. They just wanted to make it crystal clear that Kalos is the setting and that Lumiose is the "hub town" that will presumably be built up throughout the game, much like Jubilife was in the previous game. Obviously there's going to be other areas to explore; we just don't know what any of them are yet because no gameplay footage was shown.

Man I wish I could say that wouldn't happen but they do love to pander to Charizard. But seriously, 2 is more than enough so hopefully they don't. Should probably be available in some way though since he does have a mega.

There's speculation that they teased the starters in the Indigo Disk trailer.

They showed Snivy next to Rowlett, Torchic next to Cyndaquil, and Piplup next to Oshawott

Seriously. WTF were they thinking by not giving the starters who were introduced in the same game as Mega evolution their own Megas? But of course the Kanto starters got theirs because "Pls remember Kanto".

I'm not crazy about megas. I prefer regional variants and paradox Pokemon.
But since megas aren't in the new games, maybe they go could go berserk with no regard for balance in this game and then canonically all have to disappear at the end.

I hope that lineup's not real, especially since the previous game was already gen 4. I'd guess I'd pick Snivy out of those three.

If Tepig is a starter and it gets new quadrupedal regional forms for its evolutions, that'll almost make up for setting the game in Pokfrance.

Also what specifically did they say about the whole game being in the city? That doesn't sound nearly as fun as adventuring out into the wild to catch pokeymans.

I was so excited when I was 14 hours in and only on badge 2, then it felt like I was at the E4 by hour 20

It's certainly possible, but neither of those things is certain. Regigigas and Arceus both still kind of had their abilities in Arceus. And they could always just allow pokemon to go mega without a hold item. Like as long as you have the mega stone in your bag, that species can evolve or something like that. But I wouldn't expect them to reuse Arceus' exact battle system anyway, so anything is possible.

To play devil's advocate, Slow Start still existed in Legends: Arceus without abilities, and Mega Evolution was still possible in LG:PE without items.
