Had one back in the day and fucking loved it. Really surprised it didn't catch on at all. People usually like competition but it seems everyone was completely bought in on ipods.

Zune was low-key superior back then solely because it had am/FM radio with a record function so you didn't have to buy the songs you'd like and deal with stupid ass itunes. But in the end both the Zune and the iPod shared the same fate due to music streaming platforms. Zune was just put out of its misery sooner.

I had one way back when.

It was nice because I didn't have to pay for music or deal with iTunes back when that was a thing a lot of people were complaining about.

Not gonna lie: I loved my Zunes (plural). The only reason I stopped using 'em is because their batteries died and they wouldn't charge or something. Zune software for updating the music sucked, though, so I don't miss that part.

Yeah, I had the original version and used it from 2007 until 2015 when I got an Android phone with expandable storage.

I had myself a Sansa Fuze

I loved the Zune.

I had a zune and it was awesome.

iPods were overrated as shit

Zune was better than the Ipod. And did not have to use Apple's service. The fact that Apple one just shows you that you don't have to have a better product just not how to trick people better.

The HD one fucked honestly, it had built in audiosurf with motion controls that used your zune's music library to generate levels

The Zune wasn't bad.

The fact that it freed you from iTunes was a big plus.

I've still got my red 30GB Zune.

Zune was actually super legit. There was just no way of tearing off any significant amount of Apple users by the time it released. Kind of unfortunate tbh

Also before Zune I had iRiver players and they were incredible. No need for third party software at all, recognized ID3 tags but also maintained folder / file structure so you could just navigate like you would on your computer, great battery life, good audio quality. I miss that thing.

I remember buying my HD on opening day. It was so simple to use. I used to load a lot of AVGN on it.

Had one and really enjoyed it. Later got a Creative Zen when the Zune had battery issues, but the Zune was great.

Oh well guess we will go back to listening to our ipods.

Zune HD was a great little mp3 player and was hella durable too. Zune software was also really good. TC is an absolute knob.

I used to play audiosurf every morning on the bus. And that original brick Zune was great because it could easily be used for self defense in a pinch.

I'll never forget my mom got me the shit brown Zune for Xmas because "all [my] other electronics are black". It was pretty cool though.

It was more easy to work with you just clicked and dragged it into it, you didn't need the iTunes for it...same with videos you would have to transfer/convert them for them to be able to get transferred into the iPod. I had a Sansa I was watching videos years before the iPad was able too and for half of the price more GBs and no need for iTunes either.

It was awesome. You could play games on it. You could freely share your entire library between Zunes

Yeah. Also remember it being a mild punchline in GotG Vol 2 as the successor to the hi-fi cassette lol

Microsoft should have only focused on the mobile phone market; Windows Mobile had been out years before the first iPhone in 2007 and Android in 2008, so they had more experience in that industry. Once the rumors that Apple would release the iPhone spread in 2005, Microsoft should have prioritized making Windows Mobile the best mobile phone there was. Instead, they wasted time on making an MP3 player years after Apple had already beaten them to the punch and didn't release the Windows Phone, their answer to the iPhone, until 2010.

Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile flopping is probably Microsoft's biggest L.
