Some tough matches today for different reasons! I like Nanoka's song way better, but Jojo's visuals are far superior. Having never seen either, the deciding factor for me is how interested I would be to watch the anime based off the OP alone and the latter won.

As for the second match well it was very metal. Too bad I can't stand most of that genre! Despite being a hard-core DN fan, I have never been fond of What's Up, People?! I associate it with the significantly inferior half of the anime, and the great animation doesn't do enough to make up for the screeching. I was really feeling MUKANJYO right up until the end. Oh well... I would probably antivote WUP against almost anything that made the bracket.

Always loved Eternal Blaze, it was my favorite Nana Mizuki song for ages though I lately think it's about even with Final Commander. Traitor's Requiem has good animation, but I far prefer Eternal Blaze as a song.

The last match isn't remotely close, I hated What's Up People when I was getting into anime 16 years ago and this has not changed. Meanwhile Mukanjyo looks and sounds great.

My favorite Jojo OP. Well actually, the final version of this OP is my favorite and should have been the one nominated but there's also more spoilers in it so eh. Anyway, fuckin love this song and OP. Does such a good job of recapping the events up to now and then establishing new stuff. AND THEN when you watch the show until the end knowing the OP....so many touches, so good. Especially love the moment when Giorno is kneeling in the smoke and the music ramps up to this epic conclusion. ETERNAL BLAZE is cute, I like the moment the two characters are first going through their magical girl transformation, the music hits a nice sweet spot there.

I was going into this match ready to be one of the only people to vote What's Up People as I love the song and the band so much. But fuck me, of course the thing that would get me to vote over the metal/metalcore song would be a post-hardcore song! Well, also that the MUKANJYO's OP itself is extremely well done and animated. But yea, love that a post-hardcore song gets used in a high profile anime OP, just like a metalcore song being used for a high profile anime OP in What's Up People. Some of those sweeping shots in MUKANJYO's are really stellar.

The start of Traitor's Requiem with the ring is my favorite part. Other than that, pretty solid but not exceptional. I LOVE the song Eternal Blaze. The animation's nothing special, but the song's enough to decide it for me.

Legendary animation/music combination for What's Up People. Every moment with Ryuk is glorious, and the rest looks great too. I don't like the music at the end, though. MUKANJYO feels like a really standard shounen OP. Nice animation, but not interesting in the slightest.

Didn't love Traitor's Requiem - super-disturbing visuals were cool but the song kinda sucked. EB had similar quality visuals and a way better song.

Never liked the song What's Up People despite the great animation. MUKANJYO's song gets bad at the end but is way more bearable throughout.

yep here we go last day of round 1 and my absolute clear favorite in the contest is here!! eternal blaze is such a BANGER god nana mizuki has an absolutely gorgeous voice absolutely every song she sings is just sublime, and then you add Noriyasu Agematsu composition on it and just AUGH recipe for perfection. the visuals too are also great, gives a lot of the characters time to shine which i always appreciate a lot! traitor's requiem has one fatal flaw, and that's that a few of the shots in the beginning look too much as if they were just shots from an episode. the song itself is good but there's way way better songs in jojo, and later episode versions don't add enough to impact how i feel about the opening. so i'll be pretty disappointed in an eternal blaze loss but still i'm glad it's here!!!

MATCH 1

I enjoyed some of the other JJBA OPs I've heard like Bloody Stream and Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town more than Traitor's Requiem, and the same goes for the animation, but this one's good too.

I prefer the animation of Traitor's Requiem, but the song is definitely better with Eternal Blaze, and it's enough to get my vote here.

MATCH 2

I like metal, but What's Up People isn't really the kind of metal I enjoy. I'm much more into melody-driven metal songs than songs like this that stick to a lot of the same low string power chords without much of a melodic component to them. Though I do enjoy fast-paced stuff, so 1:06-1:13 was a pleasant surprise.

MUKANJYO isn't quite my style of metal either, but I definitely like it more than What's Up People. Me from like ~15 years ago probably would've liked this a lot though since I was pretty into metalcore around then. The stronger melody here is definitely more my thing, and I like the high notes. I think it's better animation-wise too, so it's the clear vote for me.

I do like Eternal Blaze showing more action that the first season.
Fresh set of opponents who have cool designs. OP does it's job of making me want to see some fighting.

I liked the guitar and piano parts of ETERNAL BLAZE. What's Up, People!? is mildly amusing, but I enjoyed the guitar parts especially. MUKANJYO is just great. Could do without the screamo, but it's not too bad in this one. Good day.
