You can't stream them for free, no. You can rent them on several platforms though.

YouTube came in clutch somehow.

Amazing that I couldn't really find anywhere reliable to buy them.

And also amazing that I gotta do fuckin home renovations all day today and can't sit around watching anime. I hate being an adult.

It's because an independent company owns the rights to the movies, so it makes it frustratingly difficult to find or know about.

I get why it wasn't sustainable but I really miss that brief period where everything was on Crunchyroll

Heaven's Feel is a trip.

I still haven't seen the Heaven's Feel movies but that route is a fucking ride and with ufotable packing a movie budget I can only imagine they're completely amazing.

Yeah Heaven's Feel had the absolute best fight scenes I've seen animated up until I watched Demon Slayer...which is also ufotable so makes sense.

watching this first hour of HF is reminding me just how rough playing fate was. just hours of boring, uneventful text, with any poorly written action being surrounded by pages upon pages of tedium. even sped up here and glazing over details since we're already familiar with the basis of the grail war is boring.

But there are certainly other perpetrators.

Watching this Shirou/Sakura relationship develop is making me feel like I'm committing infidelity. It's visceral, too. The way she's co-dependent on him and the way it feels like he's sacrificing some of what made him the way he was in UBW.

And it makes me question myself because I like it MORE than what he developed with Rin (don't kill me Granzon pls).

I feel like it sets up better conflict and a better story. Rin and Shirou had conflict they had to get through, but there was never any conflict in the way they felt about each other.

great post. rin is a more likable character but this is a more compelling storyline, and tbh it's even stronger because of how much they developed rin (and shirou!) in UBW

fate route is also great for rin

and yeah sadly i was never trying to sell you on the vn!

Rin is better in Fate and HF than in UBW IMO.

Maybe the Waver series might be a decent shout for ExTha

Waiver is probably the one ExTha would dig the most of the remaining Fate shows, not just because of the Zero connection but in general atmosphere. I would not expect any interest in Apocrypha or Grand Order, but maybe I'm wrong.

I stand by Garden of Sinners/Kara no Kyoukai being the best followup, though.

Kara no Kyoukai is fucking ace but feels like it could be offputting to most general audiences. Spiral Paradox is absolutely god tier though and would be worth getting to even if the earlier stuff doesn't land IMO.

I'm probably the most easily amused audience anyone could ask for. I think almost everyone in this topic is pickier than I am as far as anime goes.

Also want to point out that the more Rin learns about who and what Zouken Mato is, the more horrified she should be that her father was willing to give Sakura to this guy.

Magus families are all kinds of screwed up.

KnK is good but not necessarily something I'd recommend. It's just very different tonally. Fate establishes the rules of engagement fairly quickly and you always have a battle on the horizon as you know you need to eliminate the competition one way or the other.
KnK is more mystery based prior to encounters.

Though if Extha is not on the picky side and just wants more high budget ufotable action, there's always Demon Slayer.

I don't really know why I don't like recommending Demon Slayer.

I guess maybe I just got annoyed with the pacing of the show.

It's all been pretty mid since the movie, apart from the fight scenes.

I don't think most people who lived hundreds and hundreds of years ago were overly concerned about racism!

Well Lancer got "canceled" soon after the infringement anyway!

Also as far as recommendations go, I'm always surprised that more people don't recommend Black Lagoon when trying to get people into anime. It has a semi-grounded setting, easy to follow plot, possibly the best dub ever, and minimal anime weirdness. I guess it's just fallen out of the public consciousness over the years.

Back on topic: none of the Fate spinoffs are particularly good.

I rewatched Black Lagoon a couple years ago and was very surprised to find it wasn't hitting the same way it used to. It's a bit slower in places than I would have liked. I had also watched Jormungand since then which I liked a lot, and made Black Lagoon a little less unique I suppose?

Still need to watch Roberta's Blood Trail, though.

I rewatched Black Lagoon recently and found I appreciated it more than ever. As someone who usually finds that a lot of things don't hold up over time, I was pleasantly surprised.
