It is an interesting jump in logic to go from "have some self reflection" to "you are a child predator". You might want to consider the self reflection that I am talking about if you immediately think that is what I was saying.
How about you take your own advice you hypocrite? You were just making the same exact assumptions about hypothetical strangers on every post you've made.

Because people like to have fun. Not every person has cruel creepy intentions just because you're paranoid and judgy.

Fair enough, but also have enough self awareness to understand that most people are going to be paranoid and judgy. We are dispositioned as sentient beings to be defensive around situations which are unfamiliar to us. And I say "sentient beings" because all animals in nature exhibit this behavior. It isn't somehow "enlightened" not to.

A single man in a place where mostly kids are present without watching a kid of their own is going to trigger that kind of response.

What assumptions? Again, if you find no problem with it, fine. But you have to understand what it looks like to other people and how their perception is going to influence policies like was mentioned in this topic.

Some one dropped a quote which appeared to come from the website which said adults not men.
I'm pretty sure it would have been illegal to only ban men. You can't discriminate people based on gender, but you can ban single adults regardless of gender from attending family events. Discrimination is legal unless it's based on gender, religion, ethnicity, or disability. This rule obviously doesn't apply in private, for example I can definitely discriminate against men and religious people when looking for a significant other, because I'm heterosexual and atheist.

Dikitain posted...
I just said that if you find enjoyment being around a bunch of random kids you have no connection to that you probably need to think about why that is.
I enjoy entertaining kids with magic tricks and practical jokes. They're easy to impress, so they make great audiences. Kids are fun because they're curious and full of energy. One of my favorite jobs is children animator. I love designing recreational games for children and playing with them. I've always worked well with children, and children tend to like me a lot. To them, I'm a mentor, a father figure, a protector, an entertainer, and a counselor. I would never abuse a child, that's just disgusting. The way that you're inferring that I'm a pedophile because I enjoy being around children is infuriating.

silvergokuZ posted...
Reminds me of about 12 years ago I being autistic wanted to read some graphic novels and a member of staff rushed to stop me entering the kids area (where they kept them) and basically interrogated me about why I wanted to go to kids area, what books did I want, how long would I be there for.

They didn't do this with any lone females walking in and out.
It's a common double standard that sadly makes it incredibly easy for female pedophiles to prey on children without getting caught. There are actually just as many female pedophiles as male ones. The only reason why most convicted pedophiles are male is because of that double standard. People are wrongly taught that all pedophiles are male, so it makes it easy for female pedophiles to stay undetected. And since most people wrongly believe that female pedophiles don't exist, their victims are significantly less likely to report them due to shame and/or fear that no one will believe them. And they're right: victims who report being raped by a woman are very often not taken seriously.

Some of you all have so much anger!

I'm a male that goes to the park alone from time to time. I smoke a joint and read comics, look at the clouds, etc. Other times I'm with my fiance, doing similar things.
I also like the zoo, even considered membership cause i was going so much at some point. Once again, I'd smoke a joint, but the zoo is a great walk and you can stare at animals stoned.
some things "aimed at kids" is more for people with imagination and happiness in their life.
A miniature museum is pretty awesome and those can be very child friendly.

so, anyways, it's dumb to discriminate. Have better security or something. I haven't ever ran into not being able to enter though.

There's a really dumpy park near my sister's house with a playground in it. I'll occasionally stop for a couple of minutes if I'm having a joint and sit on a bench, but only if it's empty. If I saw someone approaching, I'd leave. It's just out of convenience and seriously looks like shit/never has anyone there.

Most parks are big enough that you don't need to sit by the playpark...

I guess I disagree with the Legoland thing though, I would honestly hope their security is good enough to spot creepy people? I like...love Lego and I feel like wanting to visit solo is not exceptionally odd.

I felt pretty strongly in the male babysitter topic, but I still understood the rationale of the opposing side. I'm a bit more on the fence with this one, because I do think there's some...sense to being respectful and making other people feel more comfortable in public.

I didn't follow that topic but I do think women more commonly want to be babysitters so when a guy wants to do it naturally that will raise some eyebrows. I've never actually even met a guy who was a babysitter outside of watching his own family members kids or something.

Either way, I wouldn't personally let any stranger watch my kids outside of a school environment and even that's not 100% safe

I'll try not to revive the discussion too much, lol. Many people were saying they would never hire a male babysitter simply because the chance of abuse is higher, which is statistically true. Others, along with me pointed out that even if you don't hire male babysitters, there is still a statistical chance for abuse. I don't really want to come down on either side in that discussion just because I understand the rationale of both, even if I have an opinion. I think it should probably just be based on having a fundamental trust with whomever you are choosing to care for your child.

tbf there are some very large parks that I'll chill at with friends that are just loaded with everyone. basketball courts, people that have set up huge long tables for family BBQs, people LARPing, kids running around...

I was walking to grab something from my car; these two little kids were running around, then suddenly started asking me about the long looking blueberries and eating them. I told them they probably shouldn't do that! I looked them up later though and they seemed to be safe.

Somewhat related... I was taking my kid to the playground the other day and it was completely empty except for one dude just sitting on the bench at the playground reading. I understand it was empty when I got there but there were also tons of places to sit that weren't right at the playground so that just seemed sus and we left. Seems like a good rule of thumb to not sit at a playground if you're a single dude though

Because it's a playground (ya know, a place meant for children) and there were objectively better spots to sit with more shade since it was hot and sunny out. And it wasnt empty when we showed up and then other kids showed up and he's still just chilling there. Literally made no sense to sit there unless he wanted to watch kids.

So many dudes upset by someone suggesting some old dude by himself shouldn't hang out at a playground. Weird

Some creepo skulking about the playground where children are playing when there's dozens of other more appropriate places to sit, while technically legal, still makes that person a fucking creepo weirdy.

Look, this is hypothetical for me and a lot can change depending on circumstances.

Suffice to say, I don't know what that person's motivations are for being there, and I am not gonna confront the dude unless they're putting my kid in direct danger, but I can guarantee you it would set off a red flag for me if there was a grown man hanging out in a playground with no kids of their own.

Maybe they're just resting. Maybe they're reading a book. Maybe they're confused and in a fugue state. I don't fucking know and frankly I don't fucking care, but that doesn't mean that I'm not keeping an eye on that dude I'm case he tries some bullshit

I wouldn't preemptively confront someone on the likely chance they're harmless, and if I felt my kids were in any real danger I'd get them the fuck out of there and/or call the police, but all that said, yeah - that dude is being a fucking creep until I know his motivation and reason for being there, which I acknowledge is none of my fucking business, but my kids well-being is, so without knowing their reason, I'm flagging them as a creep in my brain so I can stay vigilant for my kids sake

As a single man, I would feel kind of odd going to a place where it is nothing but kids if I wasn't accompanying any kids there. Anyone who is comfortable with it should probably think about WHY they are.
what does being a man have to do with it

Seems like a weird conclusion to jump unless you're just mad you get judge hanging around playgrounds by yourself. Child predators are out there and it's not as rare as you seem to think it is. As a parent, you have to be vigilant and watch out for your children in public places

I'm not, but I'll admit I'd much rather be an incel than a child predator so at least I've got that going for me over you

for wanting to sit where he wants unharassed?

the term incel really has lost all meaning at this point.

For having a problem with not sitting by himself at a playground. That's definitely predator/incel behavior
