I'm actually more impressed with crop dusters.

That's an Air Tractor AT-802A. It's got a 1,350 hp Pratt & Whitney turboprop. It can pull off some crazy maneuvers while carrying an 820 gallon chemical tank. That's 6,500 pounds. Range is 800 miles at 221 mph, stall speed is 91 mph, and it has an 850 ft/min rate of climb.

They actually made a military version, the OA-1K Sky Warden. It has engine and cockpit armor, a bulletproof windscreen, self-sealing fuel tanks, and can carry 9,000 pounds of armaments on 10 hardpoints, including the APKWS rocket, GBU-12 laser-guided bomb, and Hellfire and Griffin missiles. The military version has a more powerful 1,600 hp engine, and a 1,500 mile range at 210 mph cruise.

When I was stationed in Alaska I got to see the 22s they had in the Combat Air Cell, which were crazy. I didnt realize how huge the planes were in real life.

Speaks to the incredible energy density of crude oil feuls, something unlikely to be replaced in aviation soon. Wkipedia has a nice chart

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_density

Gas has a density of 46.4 MJ/kg, while Li-ion batteries only come in at 0.59-1.06. With cars you can overcome this because you then get to gut the motor, but it doesn't quite work out with planes and semi-trucks.

Fun fact, butter has 75% of the energy density as gasoline.
