When they "reebooted" the brand with Ted Kord he kept Dan's scarab but couldn't even use its power and was basically just a less depressing Batman. Then when they rebooted it again the scarab randomly ends up in Jaime's possession but has a completely different set of powers because reasons and now he fights aliens and shit on the regular. Yeah. The guy running Charlton Comics at the time hated supernatural elements and so the scarab was destroyed before it could be transferred. I understand DC not wanting a character who is essentially just Batman in a blue bug costume when they already have Batman. It's still kinda interesting. It'd be like if Disney bought out DC and had Terry McGinnis as the first and only Batman. Okay, so Bruce Wayne is too famous for that. But you know what I mean.
