celestial's grown on me honestly

left alone definitely hasn't been placed in a kind spot for me... if it wins i'll at least get to vote for it once (next round... and possibly only next round since i'm kind of a big fan of every other song left in bracket b now) but until then hmm. trajectory just isn't the draw for it... of course really hoping trajectory is the one that advances here, resting a lot of hopes on it in general, but def wouldn't mind to see left alone either

i may have picked tama out of the first 4pack in c but that doesn't change the fact that frozen/freezing is just a bs-level r2 match. i really want to place some kind of vote here because i love both of these so hecking much but also i really don't

Lots of good frozen music this contest! I love modern Kirby. Lots of music from the series could get #53 or higher. I betrayed my rankings again, oh, no! But yeah, I think Freezing Temple was ranked too high. I guess the "freezing air" sound only nets so much satisfaction and the piece is not too impressive compositionally. Pyre was also ranked too high (oops) because the second time I rated it, it kinda hit me how much I like RSE's sound design, so I got overly excited. Kiyarora was also ranked too high... it's like, if I liked the whole thing as much as my favorite parts of it, it would earn that rating, but there are too many parts that are only "nice".

god left alone is so good. It's surprisingly close to me today? Maybe the hyper-beat that would normally bother me does so less because I'm indirectly comparing it to dada. But I'm still going with left alone.

I cant believe Im betraying myself on match 1. Remnants of Celestial 0:40-0:50 and 1:01-1:35 are so intense yet have such a light tone. Whatever wins this match better tear through this division.

Tough choice between Battle on the Sea and Kanashimi no Mephisto. I ended up going with the latter for its joyful vocals and guitar riffs. Battle on the Sea has great instruments and flows well without being overly fast-paced.

I really wish I didn't have to pick for Match 1, both are really solid picks. Match 2 is also solid, but I'm easily going Kudo here.

There's no way I would prefer Kirby in this matchup unfortunately, Etrian Odyssey is real good at setting that pretty ambiance.

Since I didn't get the chance to talk about Frozen Grounds during its round 1 match, I'll discuss it here. It's a really good arrangement with its instrumentation! There's a very rich use of harmony in here that I really like, especially during my favorite parts of the song from 1:41-2:35 and 2:58-3:34. With 1:41, I like the part that came before it, but I think this part is even better with the guitar accompaniment playing out arpeggios for the chords. There's also some really cool modulation and/or chord changes at parts like 1:59 and 2:58-3:15. I temporarily had it on my list of support considerations before removing it when whittling it down, but regardless, I'm happy this made it in (and won its first match)!
