Super Mario Odyssey is the 4th winner from the Mario franchise, wow! We sure do love Mario. Anyway, I have one final tournament to run involving the top 4 finishers from each bracket, but I'm taking a short break before putting that together. Thanks, yet again, for participating!

Meh. Not a bad game, but it never lived up to the hype for me. Feels more like a collection of random ideas than a cohesive Mario game.

I'm down with the Odyssey win though. Possibly the best game on the Switch

Odyssey is a great game and at least it wasnt Smash, but it sure was sad to see some excellent games get absolutely buried. GoW:R deserved better than getting like 6 votes in its last match. Most hilarious was seeing how pathetic BotW looked in this thought. Nearly lost to Bugsnax and just looked bad the entire contest

Odyssey is a perfectly good game but there's at least 8 games across both brackets I'd take over it. It's not the worst thing though.

Great winner, cool final (though an epic Ring showdown would have been better), but I don't understand why this board has turned on BotW in the last year.

Tears of the Kingdom really has made Breath of the Wild feel obsolete in many ways. Another thing is some people were complaining about it in the noms topic so maybe it got anti votes.

I don't think the board has "soured" on it per se, I just think, as more people play, there's some natural disconnect forming which gets amplified by the reputation the game had around release. Vote totals were way down this generation as well, so I wouldn't take the results, especially from the first 3 rounds, to be representative of the board's collective thoughts. If everyone here voted in these, or even if participation matched prior generations, we might not see BotW win, but I'm fairly certain it doesn't get knocked out where it did.

i'm just glad arceus performed as well as it did when it seemed to just fall straight into total irrelevance here as soon as sv launched, despite the obvious backlash. yeah it did obviously get very fortunate timing with botw having only just been even more directly superseded but i still think the fact that it actually brought the fight to botw (not to mention won) in the first place can still be considered a significant achievement for it, especially considering how badly sv itself got mauled. really felt that even with the high seeding it was just due to get completely trampled and quite potentially not even make it to r3
