Shujinko has always been cool, one of MK's most underrated characters imo. Deception was about the peak of the series for me. Not saying it's the best game, it's just when I was at the height of my fandom and the most entrenched in the series. I spent a ton of time with Shujinko in Konquest mode; I hope some day he'll get the chance to return as a fully fledged roster member.

and one of Kung Lao's intros mentions he screwed up with training Shujinko, so his part in the leaks is probably true too.

Invasions mode is a board game where each season has a new board and new story where you unlock stuff. It starts in a generic world in Johnny Cage's mansion where you unlock Kameos and skins and such. They all have little gimmicks like limits on characters, random projectiles, Test Your _____ challenges. All of that cool stuff.

The first Invasion story is Hanzo Hasashi going through timelines to find one where his wife doesn't die horribly.

I am so tired of timeline stuff my god. Multiverse fatigue is entirely too real. But at least Invasions look fun.

A board game mode in a fighting game reminds me of some less-than-stellar examples, but the idea isn't bad.

I'm pretty confused because the leaks said both Reiko and Nitara were playable, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Theyre just not revealed yet, theyre still in. Reiko was basically confirmed in a story clip they showed at comic con, and Nitara was heavily implied to be swooping in at the end of (I think) the smoke/rain trailer.

Yeah, Reiko and Nitara are complete locks at this point. It's kind of surprising there's no consensus on the last character. My hopes are for Hanzo as Noob Saibot as the last character. That one actually seems like the most likely rumor, but no leakers have even mentioned it.

eh invasions just looks like mk9s tower stuff in an elaborate getup. granted the getup makes it a lot better than a tower but still meh imo. it having a story would be good but i mean nrs stories ya know

been waiting to see nitara since the leak so of course shes one of the last reveals :/

noob hanzo would certainly be a better last character than fuckin cyber smoke but i think for now im gonna err on the side of disappointment

It does have a story! They're adding stories in "seasons"! The first one is all about Hanzo!

So it seems like Liu Kang has been making every potential threat far weaker now.

Shang Tsung has no abilities and has to be a snake oil salesman.

Shao Khan has some kind of disease that weakens him, and he had to work incredibly hard to overcome it and get to his position.

Rain isn't a demi-god and instead needs to use a staff to use his powers.

Kronika is some kind of priestess with no apparent abilities.

Ermac is frail with a weak body.

Quan Chi... Something is up with him, but we're not sure yet. He has no status though.

Mileena and Kitana are sisters to avoid their conflict.

Tarkatan race was removed entirely, but still emerged as a disease.

Mortal Kombat tournament was removed entirely to avoid a takeover of Earth.

Raiden is just an Ordinary Guy to avoid having him become Dark Raiden.

Reptile's race isn't extinct, so he has no reason to join the evil side.

Chaos Realm doesn't exist so Havik doesn't have an entire world to himself.

It's all actually pretty interesting but I fear by the end of the story it may suck.

Edit: And Hanzo isn't married to his wife, so he doesn't die and become a Specter working for evil at first!

Everyone in this game + Kameos seems so busted. Lol

Sindel has a move where she can stop or control Kameos. Otherwise she seems wild.

Sareena Kameos has an area meter drain ability.

Rain's got a bunch of fun shenanigans that I'm looking forward to. Absolutely love his animations.

Shao has some crazy stance things. What I was most shocked by was that with a teleporting Kameo, you can combo off of his overhead which is nuts.

Interesting was them mentioning that for combo breakers, you need three meter and your Kameo has to be available.

Stryker Kameo is great. Might find a way to make him work because the taser fatal blow is too good, and then his arrest move opening up for a combo is great too.

I have no idea how healthy this game will be in a year's time, but it looks insane because everything is broken, especially with Kameos.

Nah I didn't think she was that bad. Not that good, sure. But not that bad. She had some really good line reads and some bad ones.

Like Ronda Rousey was so much worse. There's a line in MK11 that was so awful, and if you want to hear it again search for "Ronda Rousey Sandy Hook".

Ronda Rousey is just very bad at acting in general. It was mostly a fight scene, but her bit in Fast and Furious still had enough lines to make it clear she should not act

I actually remember really liking her when she was on like half a season of New Girl. Maybe she only seems bad because shes almost exclusively in bad movies.

Denuvo has effectively zero inherent and proven effect on a PC port's performance or quality and is probably the single most overblown and misunderstood thing in the PC gaming community.

I find it very hard to believe that there haven't been any cases where it has had a clear negative effect. Maybe you can't prove it because it's hard to pin down the causes of performance drops on individual hardware configurations, but I don't think it's made up from nothing. I also know it can be fine in some cases. I played Hi-Fi Rush on PC, and it's flawless.

If Reiko is the last remaining character, maybe its because he has a celebrity voice too? Dave Bautista is a big get for just a commercial, so maybe that wasn't the only thing he did...

If you watched the first 15 minutes of gameplay that IGN posted, Bautista was actually the man who calls out Shang Tsung as a fraud.

Reiko didn't sound like Bautista in the leaked footage but I dunno. It's strange they're holding up the reveal of Reiko of all characters.

Oh man, this may be one of the only times a big day 1 patch has been okay.

People have the game early, but fatalities, story mode (past a point), invasions, fatalities, customization, and the final character are all locked behind the patch, so nobody who got the game early can access it.

NRS just saying they are sick of their shit being leaked wholesale and clamping down on what can be revealed still at this point.

I expect that they won't be quite so stingy with the people paying the big bucks for early access on the 14th.
