I mean you can just use an Rock Octoroc repair them if you care that much. Though it is annoying for special weapons as you have to fuse them to a normal weapon then feed it to the Octoroc and then pay 20 bucks to seperate them from at Tarry Town.

lmao I know its hard to believe but I was planned and born to wonderful parents with whom I have always felt loved and supported throughout my entire life even when I probably didnt deserve it.

I hate the focus on breaking weapons and crafting. Kills the game for me in general.

I get why they do it. Otherwise people would just get one weapon and stick with it. The durability forces experimentation with the crafting system.

I just have an issue with there being unique weapons that suffer from the durability side of things.

I just find the crafting loop in general to be tedious. The weapons don't vary enough in what they do to make experimenting all that fun.

Ocarina. None of the Aonuma-led 3D Zeldas have been home-runs for me to be honest. Wind Waker is his best one but the sea is barren and the end bit is tacked on. His games in general have suffered from feeling a bit dead and empty. Twilight Princess is held back by that emptiness as well as the wolf mechanics; Skyward Sword just didn't work for me; BotW and TotK just aren't my kind of games.

You can buy another one from the bargainer statues.

I'm one who doesn't mind the breakable weapons thing because it's in service of the other "survival" mechanics the game employs, but I also feel like it really shouldn't be the new gameplay standard of Zelda since I prefer building up a permanent selection of abilities, items, and weapons.

Because thats not what the developers are going for.

Youd have to alter a lot more of the game to make getting rid of the fusing system / weapon durability fit.

Lightscale Trident is literally the best weapon in the entire game though? Unless you count bows. Scimitar of the Seven is way better than Master Sword as well, although it would eat your fuse materials pretty quickly.

Master Sword gets to recharge because it's pretty garbage, worse than even decayed royal weapons if you flurry rush (with flurry rush being the only time 1H weapons do decent DPS), and becomes passable against exactly the final boss where it gets 1.5x damage (still worse than all of the champion weapons, but passable).

They did not. They just made everything else so much more durable that it doesn't stand out on that front anymore.

You might be used to the post-trials true Master Sword which had a permanent 60 attack and enhanced durability? IDK how the durability was in BotW, but base Master Sword was just 30 attack except against Guardians, Blight bosses, and the final boss.

Master Sword does kinda suck in TotK: it's 30 base attack (actually impressive for TotK) with a 150% multiplier to total attack against gloom-based enemies and the final boss. However, base attack is a lot less significant in TotK because you can stick a 32 attack Molduga Jaw or 55 attack Silver Lynel Saber Horn on anything. Where Master Sword really falters is in its blue mod (the conditional damage buff:) Against stuff where Master Sword doesn't get a multiplier, it just has a few points of base might over other stuff, and on a 1H weapon at that, which has the slowest rate of getting hits outside of Flurry Rushes.

Zora weapons, meanwhile, get a 200% total attack multiplier by just getting Link wet, which requires either just activating the water shield or throwing a Splash Fruit or Chu Jelly at your feet to double your attack for 30 seconds. Lightscale Trident has 22 base attack; with Silver Lynel Saber Horn, it hits for 154 base damage; with Molduga Jaw + Bone Atk Up it hits 194 damage before attack up buffs/crits, and it has equal hit count Flurry Rushes and way faster normal/charge attacks plus much more reach compared to Master Sword. Even Zora Spear still outdoes Master Sword in the same way.

Scimitar of the Seven is just straight superior to Master Sword in literally every way if you put a high attack fuse item on it. There just are actually zero numbers on it that aren't better in every single fight. More durable, more damage against enemies that Master Sword is effective against, etc.

Knight weapons also double total attack when at 1 heart or less (I have a clip of killing a King Gleeok with a single Knight's Claymore spin) and Royal weapons double attack during Flurry Rushes. Royal Guard double attack for the last 3 hits, which isn't particularly useful except for mounting Lynels, but they can hit way, way harder for that purpose (since this stacks with the guaranteed 2x crit all weapons get on their final point of durability).

Boulder Breaker has higher base attack, extreme durability, and 1.5x damage against rocks and armor. It's not amazing, but it's still generically stronger when Master Sword doesn't have effective damage.

Even the humble Soldier Spear can do some pretty crazy DPS with its double charge speed, though not sure how this compares DPS-wise to the higher per-hit damage of Master Sword.

And finally, all of the Gloom Toll weapons have much higher base attack in exchange for the Gloom Toll effect. No bonus multipliers, though.

So yeah, Master Sword kinda got dumpstered by all the other weapons getting buffed so there would be reasons to use one weapon over another beyond just the base attack stat. It would need a DLC upgrade to True Master Sword to even be competitive.

They should make them cheaper to re acquire. But I'm pro the breaking mechanism in this game.

It's hard for me to pinpoint one because I like all of these for different reasons, but Majora for its mechanics, Wind Waker for its comfy feel/vibe, and Twilight Princess for its grittiness. If I absolutely had to pick one, probably Majora because I spent the most time with it overall.

yeah I know what you mean. I like them all for different reasons. MM never really clicked for me though for some reason so its OOT for me.

I don't like the constant time pressure in MM. As someone who hates having to do the same things twice in a game and who has abandoned games because of an ill timed death, MM has too much working against it.

I get that its a workaround for the weapon breaking system, but the user I responded to said that Zelda sacrificed herself for nothing, when they specifically explain it in a cutscene

They should have allowed a way to have unique weapons only be temporarily broken, and then you could go to a blacksmith and maybe pay some money or basic materials to have them fixed. I would concede that whatever is fused to them would be lost (same as the Master Sword). That would still force experimentation and crafting when they temporarily break.

IIRC there are 5 to 7 Poe Statues.

One at Lookout Landing, and the other 4 to 6 statues down in the Depths.

The only requirements to buy the unique weapons are you have to find the unique weapon, then you can purchase it with poe spirits.

Someone did maths and found that undecayed Zora Longsword is the best weapon in the game unless you glitch something to insane damage.
