Hey, Board 8! I'm thrilled to bring you my first ranking project. This one comes from a place of love and reverence for a series that has profoundly shaped my path in this life. Before we dive into the list proper, here's a quick breakdown of how this is all gonna work.

A number score out of ten determines a game's place in the ranking, averaged from the individual scores given to each song. Because discussing an entire OST at length is, well, not feasible, I'll be selecting (in most cases) five songs to represent the whole. I like to emphasize deep cuts where possible, so expect some unusual picks in the lot.

Now, my music taste is known to be...divisive. For reference, the random tone sequence from CrazyBus is one of my favorite songs of all time. I am not joking this is not one of my jokes It seems unfair for me alone to pass judgement on these soundtracks that so many people hold close to their heart. Well, that's where you guys come in!

Really quick, I just wanted to clear the air on team ups: don't feel pressured to adhere to any sort of structure. Whether you want to rank the entire soundtrack or deep dive a few songs you love, I'll accept just about anything you want to write within reason.

Bumping to confess that I cannot for the life of me find Wacky Worlds Creativity Studio in presentable quality. It appears to be un-ripped somehow, and all the uploads on YouTube are made of short clips chopped together (doesn't sound this bad in-game).

Because of this, I'm petitioning to drop it from the ranking and replace with Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams. I promise that you aren't missing much. Any objections?

Sadly, as far as I can tell, there's no way to actually get the music from Wacky Worlds:

Wacky Worlds music was procedurally created out of instrumental "blocks", much the same way Garage Band works. As such, it's impossible to actually rip the music.

Presuming the uploader knows what he's talking about, that would explain why it's so hard to find much from the game. I checked every source & Google search I could think of, but like Place said, it doesn't seem to appear anywhere.

Yeah you can compose the music yourself, so there probably is no "official" version for each world. Which is a shame cause you can make some pretty groovy stuff

Well, it's sounding like Wacky Worlds Creativity Studio might have an intriguing dynamic soundtrack that Place is obligated to experience contextually and document the inner workings of...

So, I've made the decision to drop Wacky Worlds from the list--but you'll still be able to read my thoughts on it! I'll be doing some miscellaneous rankings between the regular ones. I've never played any Sonic game for more than, like, a level or two. And I'm not in the VGM crowd. But I support ranking topics by principle and this is very ambitious, nearly formatted, and even has a collaborative aspect to it. Best of luck, I hope it'll go smoothly and be fun for everyone.

Hey, one last update before the ranking begins. First, big thanks to everyone who sent in team ups for the project! Submissions are now officially closed. (actually they closed yesterday but shhh)

Second, I do want to apologize for running a week behind schedule. I'll spare you the intimate details, but my attention has been definitely been elsewhere. I do plan to have the first ranking up reasonably soon, so just hold out a little longer! I'm thrilled to get this ball rolling and am very grateful for all who have expressed interest.
