Main girl's pretty funny too, and the side cast seems to have potential. A series that wouldve been doomed to mediocrity had it not been ufotable animating. Dr. Stone S3 - I need to see the special thats before this I think?, but otherwise oh ya some more stoner anime. Hells Paradise - Sounds potentially interesting so well see. Oshi no Ko - Nothing about this sounds interesting to me. Can't say I cared too much for the serious stuff with the dads' backstories, but I did like the tension it added the last couple episodes. The family stuff was the best part, and whether it was trying to be fun or sad, I think it hit every time. The Tale of Outcasts did not turn out how I thought it would, but I still really enjoyed it. I loved the dynamics between all the characters (minus one), and while I wish it weren't so serious (partly because I don't think the action looks very good), it still works narratively. Unfortunately, the ending isn't terribly satisfying despite being a complete adaptation Mou Ippon was a cute girls judo show. I really liked beginning when the focus was on the characters. Unforutnately, the show is pretty poor visually, and I don't think the actual judo matches are portrayed very well. Lastly, D4DJ: All Mix is on hold. After watching the first season shortly before this aired and really liking it, I'm surprised I cared so little for this that I couldn't be bothered to keep up with it. Maybe there are just too many characters and I don't have much of a connection to any of them? Maybe I should have watched Petit Mix? Regardless, I'll pick it up again later....hopefully. It definitely had that fun sports anime thing where it delves deep into the techniques and the characters grow in entertaining, borderline supernatural ways. It did a great job at creating tension, too. My only complaint is that, since every single player is a striker, their defense is always hit-or-miss. I'm not a huge soccer guy so maybe I'm wrong, but I think players never passing so they can selfishly dribble through the entire opposing team probably wouldn't work against actual defense players capable of stopping them. I also finished Slow Loop. I went into it expecting nothing more than cute girls going fishing, and it definitely had that. I was pleasantly surprised at how much emotion the characters had too, though. It's about two girls who meet when their widowed parents marry each other. The fishing and cooking bits were good, and very reminiscent of comfy anime like Laid-Back Camp (though Slow Loop was nowhere near as good as LBC). Still, my favorite thing about this show was the little moments where the girls grew closer or opened up about their trauma. It had such a fun concept, but each episode somehow managed to be worse than the one before it. By the end, it became genuinely terrible. Everyone was boring (even the psycho samurai girl, somehow), and they experienced zero growth both in their characterization and in their powers. Main dude Finn's one ability was supposed to be that he could shoot perfectly straight, but then in one big battle me missed every shot he took, ugh. I'm not looking forward to S2 for this at all. I still have eight Winter shows left to finish, but for now I'll update my ranking. Compared to the two shows from last year with vaguely similar concepts (Yakuza Babysitting and Spy x Family, both shows about found families and criminality), I'd say Buddy Daddies falls right in the middle. Miri was actually cute and fun, which made her way better than that boring little girl from Yakuza Babysitting. However, Miri was nowhere near as good as Anya from SxF. I also didn't love the two daddies, though they were both at least fine. Their respective tragic backstories fell super flat for me because they didn't gel with the goofy fun tone of the rest of the show. And don't even get me started on that crappy final dramatic arc. I hated that they tried to redeem Miri's mom. They established early on that she was an unbelievably shitty person, like literally one of the worst moms ever. Then near the end she just randomly showed up and was like "actually I'm good now lol" and everyone just rolled with it, ugh. I hate it when stories put zero effort into redeeming a bad person and then just act like they're redeemed. In conclusion, Buddy Daddies would've been a lot better if it stuck with fun Miri antics and leaned into the goofiness more. The various stories were fun, and Saitou himself is a solid protagonist who the writer doesn't make OP, just useful in the way a modern day handyman would be. The rest of the show was bad though. It starts having long arcs instead, and they're all bad. Not in the typical isekai way so that's nice I guess, but they're still bad. Particularly annoying how they tried to redeem a certain villain. Mou Ippon! - pretty good cute girl sports show. Thought it was gonna be CGDCT at first, but it leaned more heavily into the sports as it went. Some of the bouts have pretty nice animation, even. Main weakness was that I didn't like the protagonist. Her brand of high energy wasn't really for me. Endo and Kobayashi Live! The Latest on Tsundere Villainess Lieselotte was one of the good isekais. Having just their voices go to the other world was fun, and though it subscribes to a lot of the otome game villainess cliches, it doesn't feel that way as much thanks to the connection to the real world gimmick. Plus, it adapts the whole series, so we get a pretty satisfying ending. Main weakness was the blah animation, though it's not as bad as something like Angel Next Door was. only a couple series left in the tank now... It's a fairly hefty character drama.
