Rewind is definitely more cheat-y than Ascend hehe. Lots of places where Ascend doesn't work. Always nice to have it at the end of a cave though.

Yeah, Rewind definitely lets you cheat the game more than Ascend does in terms of practical application, but it still feels like more of a "legit" power to me, for whatever the reason.

Which, again, in all fairness to her - had the Master Sword not jobbed maybe it works out!

The one thing that's not clear is what would've happened if they hadn't gone. Like, did they wake up Ganondorf? Or was that going to happen even if they hadn't gone? Maybe things would've been worse if they hadn't gone down there?

It seemed to me that Ganondorf was just on the verge of becoming unsealed regardless, they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The beginning felt very Wheel of Time to me, with the whole "seals on the Dark One's tomb ready to break" and all that. It just felt like it was inevitable.

I don't know why but the mgs remake not rerecording audio feels kinda unfortunate? I love the original cast of course but it seems a little "cheap" of them. Like they're not putting their all into this like the REmakes

I assume it's going to be a graphical upgrade to Subsistence, like the Demon's Souls or Shadow of the Colossus or Metroid Prime remakes, maybe with a bit of QoL. No major gameplay changes, not even on the level of RE4make.

Haha, sorry about that. It's fun to discuss though.

Also I kinda feel like they should've left Link with more than the basic 3 hearts/1 stamina wheel. Even a token 4 hearts/1.2 stamina would've been nice, but oh well.

Yeah, it's the same with other "kill monsters" encounters where there's a meter at the top of the screen.

Well, after 4 or 5 tries, I managed to clear out Lurelin Village, and I found my second Dragon's Tear, to boot, so all in all, it was a worthwhile venture. It's interesting that Zelda apparently has access to Recall, too. I wonder if those Magatamas give them those abilities. Wasn't enough to save the queen from getting GANONBANNED though.

Ted Lasso Season 3 complete!

They definitely left the show open to do more if they choose, but it was nice to see most of the characters get a happy ending. I feel like they left some stuff on the table, but maybe they wanted to leave it for a potential season 4 or spinoff.

My wife is turning 30 today.

It's weird to think she was one of the kiddies who would've been voting for Spyro in 2002 if she knew this place existed.

Actually, just for fun, I ran through the first round of 2002 with her just to see how many she recognized, and I got a lot of blank stares!

Mostly finished up my exploration of the initial area (I define areas by what's revealed by a given tower.) Well, the surface level at least. Exploring Hyrule Castle, well what stayed on the ground, was fun. It was neat solving some of the puzzles there - the jail in particular had a bunch of "aha" moments between opening the one gate by positioning a log next to it and then attaching it to the gate to hold it up to attaching whatever was around to the broken levers in order to make your own lever.

While I have absolutely zero intention of actually going to Rito village until I explore literally the entire rest of the world (unless everyone here tells me actually I really, really should) I did head off in that direction for my next area to explore since I assume the enemies will be more basic that way since the game tries to push you there.

Investigated a crop circle with Impa and oh this is the memory quest/equivalent I guess, huh. I guess Zelda was the Link to the Past all along. Also found Hetsu on my way to activate the area's tower praise be I can expand my inventory.

Some stuff is locked behind completing a dungeon (particularly the stuff with Robbie). Up to you if you care about that.

I would recommend doing the Rito village questline on the sooner side of things, just because the ability you get there is the most useful (similar to BotW). Doesn't have to be right away, but I wouldn't put it off forever.

Yeah, I figured it was given after going to the Depths with him he said he wanted to stick around to help Josha still and talking to her she was like "go do the main quest and my quest chain will update" and I whispered "no" and ran off. >_>

Edit: okay maybe i will go to rito village. =(

after i'm done exploring the area. it will be the last spot of it i go. >_> well, technically i think it's barely in the next area over but you know

Yeah, the Rito Village skill is definitely very useful, and that section is a lot of fun in general.

Actually, I've got a question. Those gloom hand things that appear every now and then and chase you... is there a trick to them or something? An NPC mentioned them at Hyrule Castle and while there if they showed up I just fled to some spot where they couldn't get me and they'd just... die after a short time. But they showed up in a cave while I was exploring just now and that didn't seem to work so I started trying different ideas like shooting light-themed stuff attached to arrows like the plants that light up the dark in the Depths and even the plant that can be cooked into restoring gloomed hearts and nothing. So eventually I just risked fighting them even though that seemed really inefficient and I actually took out like 3/5 of them... only for them to just start respawning. I think I had explored all that cave had so I just gave up and bailed at that point.

Is there a way to get rid of them or are they just there to make life difficult for you in places where they hang out?

there is no secret, they suck and are terrifying

Use bomb flower arrows combined with bullet time, ideally with a high Attack bow. Switch to regular arrows once most of them are dead.

I haven't seen them respawn though. Not sure what causes that. If you abuse bullet time they shouldn't have time to respawn though.

The rewards for winning are pretty solid. Up to you to decide if they're worth the cost.

Ryu and Ken were two of the characters she actually knew though.

Also last night I entered a shrine right before a blood moon was supposed to happen and it made me wonder if it still occurs even if you're in a shrine at the time since you don't see the cutscene for it

That'd be an interesting workaround if so but I doubt it works that way

Oh, it turns out going into a shrine before the blood moon just pushed it back to the next day. I guess you could keep warping to a shrine to get around it over and over again if you were willing to put it in the extra effort.

We spent a lot of time in Kakariko Village last night looking around the Ring Ruins. It was a rare story-heavy Zelda section!

Honestly I usually dont care about story in Zelda games, but I think they did a great job with that and the lore in TotK.

Yeah, same. I think both games have done a pretty decent job with the world building and characterization, which is what makes this stand out from other Zelda games for me.

Seasons 4 and 5 were a bit of a lull, but they really finished strong with 6. This is like the Clannad of American TV shows, so many emotional moments revolving around family.

I guess next up is the Metal Gear Solid of American TV shows, in 24...!

Yeah, my wife was sharing some of those pictures with me earlier. It's kinda surreal to see, can only imagine what it's like to actually be in it.

Where I am I can smell the smoke outdoors but the sky is still blue (although a bit cloudy).

it's been absolute insanity. been wearing a mask outdoors.

My advice is to get an air purifier (or if you can't find one now make one by attaching a HEPA filter to a box fan)
