THE MOST EPIC! EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY! DAY 12!
D11 Results Two contrasting results! Spielberg/Hitchcock vs. Rasputin/Stalin was our most one-sided match yet. Despite the battles having the same amount of rappers, seems like people much prefer the directors. Meanwhile, the tech guys just barely eked out a win by one vote against the mutant ninja turtles and fathers of the renaissance. King vs Poe This is probably my favorite match in the bracket. I just love it more every time I hear it. These dudes both bring it so hard. I think King wins easily but it's not by any weakness of Poe. Zeus vs Thor is pretty good too, definitely one of the better ones in the bracket, but it can't compare. Thanos vs Oppenheimer This is the only reason it's probably and I'm in for a tough decision if both advance. This Oppenheimer portrayal is just so amazing in every regard and he has a strong rap too, and I think Thanos gets more hate than he should. His first verse is fine. Alexander vs Ivan is one of the worst in the bracket. Just a really annoying and distracting way to add new rappers. Some good verses in here but it's just too gimmicky for me. --- No problem! King vs. Poe I thought there was no way Thor vs. Zeus could top this then it almost did. I choose this one because as someone who songwrites a lot and jots raps and stuff down sometimes, they weave back to back references in this in a very similar style to my own stuff. Good shit and both flows are so sick, even with the hilarious (and quite accurate) King voice. Alexander the Great vs. Ivan/everyone Holy shit I just can't get into Thanos here. His voice is so awful. Did ERB not realize someone with a deep and menacing voice should play Thanos? He even looks all...weird (in a non-funny way) and the whole thing just feels so off from their usual levels of production. His bars are decent, but hip-hop just depends too much on delivery. Oppenheimer is masterful though and damn, so is that beat. Alexander wins on an account of me not caring for half of the other match, and it's good stuff all around. I like the gimmick (and their deaths are done in the ways they really died). This match would have lost to Zeus vs. Thor though. --- Feel the sadnesss of the Earth, and I close my eyes. The comments are always so worth reading on these by the way. I went from thinking "I'm gonna split you like 2 and 3 from 5" was an okay at best line to thinking it's one of the most brilliant lines ever written. Basically, Uranium 235 is the element used in nuclear bombs, so it's actually "split (U) like (2) and (3) from (5)." Goddamn I wish Oppenheimer had a better opponent because he really might be my new favorite one of these ever. --- Feel the sadnesss of the Earth, and I close my eyes. And I'm beyond time now. ...
