Baten Kaitos probably sold better than any individual Xenosaga game

3 sold better so word of mouth helped a little at least (I still haven't played it...because 2 sucked! )

probably my second favourite JRPG game(s) of all time so uh me i guess

though i wouldn't have ever considered asking for it because i'd assume it was a total non-starter. still tentative tho until we see real proof

I love BK1, but the difference in quality between the two is pretty extreme.

I did. Well, really for Origins. For a late Gamecube title, the graphics/aesthetics are trash! You can't tell what anyone's outfit is supposed to be.

Greatly enjoyed the original with its character-specific decks and dream-like world. Origins was a relative disappointment to me when they decided to combine the decks and I realized that going through some of the same environments didn't resonate with me. I ended up stopping at a convenient part in the second half due to the infamously inexplicable Holobird boss debacle.

But will everyone still sound like they're speaking through cardboard tubes?

the first game also had a boss fight that you could get permanently stuck on, didn't it? when you board the airship to fight Giacomo somewhere in the latter half of the game, i think you can get hard-stuck because you can't leave the ship. though there are at least enemies to grind there, maybe? i can't remember. the holobird is worse because from what i recall you can save before it and there's no way to leave or gain any EXP at all

It has been nearly 20 years since I played the first. Given the aforementioned awful flaw in the sequel (narratively it is a prequel iirc), it would not surprise me if something similar was present in the first. Thankfully, I didn't have to experience that.

But yeah, the Holobird boss is right after inserting the second disk, and you save at the disk-changing interlude. Simply asinine.

That happened my first playthrough. I had to take a break and then start the game over.

Exactly what I said. Didn't know Milly had a midriff until I looked a concept art. Tons of Guillo's details are hard to see. Then there's the dude with the axe who uses Thrashing Gale, Verus, his assistant, the characters' faces in general... Pretty much any character that doesn't have an in-battle model and even then.
