Good breakdown.

Chapter 9 was fine but I'm not a big fan of symmetrical chapter design like that. It's much more interesting when chapters are set up asymmetrically imo, even when you're supposed to split your units down two paths. So more like the Anna paralogue, although that one was a bit easy.

Actually I think I'm going to stop using the arena in Somniel because the game has been not challenging at all for the last couple chapters. And now I've promoted Alear and Chloe so the enemy needs some time to catch up tbh

[story stuff] If Hyacinth needed royal blood for his ritual why didn't he just use his daughter that he already intended to sacrifice? whatever, i should just accept that this game's villains are bad. Don't spoil me if this is actually answered later pls

Mac, unless I just happened to avoid all of them in my party selection, not seeing where these 80% cooking supports for Goldmary come into play. I only got 1 out of my 5 chains, that's the opposite!

These supports for THE BOUCHE really justify having the highest Build growth in the game but pretty lame strength.

He can pick up anything, but ain't interested in swinging it!

For being so explicitly about close friendship, the voice acting of the Folgado/Bunet support sure is the most authentically romantically charged across any of the recent FE games.

I don't know how else to describe it except to say that this chapter 10 writing sure is the exact middle point between Tales of the Abyss writing and FE Fates writing

Zelkov was maybe the best of them. I think the problem the characters (and supports) have is that they don't take themselves seriously enough, and there's too many that're about hiding their true natures. Instead they make everything into a joke. Ironically, Zelkov's supports are funnier than most of the others because he takes himself so seriously. I'd definitely like Yunaka and Panette more without the "hiding their true natures" stuff.

(also Panette x Ivy probably the best Support in the game Ivy was absolutely amazing there)

I didn't expect to like Ivy at all going into the game and I was totally blown away by how good she was in the supports..

Panette/Ivy B is a thing of miracles. Also love Timerra/Ivy because even with her trying to sound bad you can tell Ivy'd VA can really sing, lol. Diamant/Timerra is just as funny because of how clearly Diamant's VA can't sing.

Panette and Zelkov also elevate every character they interact with in their supports (except maybe Kagetsu/Zelkov which is just kind of boring).

Oh, I also love Pandreo/Panette a lot specifically because it takes itself seriously and Panette just drops the whole act. Goldmary/Panette is good because she's physically unable to hold back but she never breaks "character".

Okay about to start chapter 12

Chapter 10 was a slog and the writing. Bad. All the villains in this game are so dumb. are we sure this isn't the same lead writer as fates? like have we ever seen them in a room together?

Chapter 11 is extremely good though. Easily best chapter so far. Also I kinda like Ivy now (even if the save from her was predictable) so I guess I'm using her even though her design is super super dumb.

Alear acts like they lost a bunch but frankly Morion threw his life away by being a dumbfuck and they still have just as many rings as when they started, so it feels like this whole bungled operation could have gone way, way worse. Call me when half your army gets annihilated Alear.

I've been getting only good ranks at cooking but Alfred just hit me with a fat F that dropped almost every stat by 1. on his expert-rated meal. smh

Finished up chapter 14. Hortensia really is the fucking worst isn't she. On the other hand this game really should've been about Ivy since she's got way more invested in the conflict than Alear and is actually an interesting character.

The chapter itself was kind of a slog (especially when FUCKING Fogado kept missing attacks at 90% hit) and then Hortensia folded like paper even with 2 revival stones and a rage mode that she never got to use. Admittedly, I'm fine with this after 3 other bosses.

Protip: don't invest in countries. It's not worth it.

I would say invest twice in Brodia for the serious gains in Ore drops.

Nothing else, though. I don't THINK you need to invest anything to get dogs.

lol, I felt that way a little during Jean's C support with him too, with Jean being surprised that Zelkov is a good person.

I know it's because he presents as a creepy assasin wearing all black and looking like he hasn't slept in 126 years, but it's still funny.

It made a lot more sense with Benny tbh. You can't convince me that 99% of kids wouldn't think Zelkov looks cool as hell.

So I tried the Ike paralogue and it uh. It went poorly. In that I got to the end and then barely had anyone who could even damage Ike without immediately dying to his counterattack. Maybe "suggested level: lvl 3 advanced class" means 20/3 and not 10/3...

Chapter 16 was probably the toughest story chapter so far but fuck yeah I have Rosado now! I was really hoping Marni and Mauvier would bite it in this chapter but no such luck. I'm still half-expecting Mauvier to be the game's Lorenz archetype and switch sides but it feels less likely now than it did when he was first introduced. And for a moment Griss had me believing he'd be a Jaffar analogue and help Good!Veyle escape but that feeling was pretty short-lived. I may not like these characters but at least I'm interested in where the game's going with them.

Definitely not complaining about the game getting harder, since I've breezed through the story (and the appropriately-leveled paralogues) up til now.
