There was no highlight to 2022.

I got to see my dog one last time

the only highlight is that I survived this rough year

getting my new job, moving in with my boyfriend, getting a cat

Started a new job in September and its the best paying and easiest job Ive ever had

probably watching the Philadelphia Phillies World Series run, after being the worst team in baseball due to bad managing. theres probably more I should remember, but thats all I can think of at the moment

Going to my first eagles game or cruise to bermuda

Work promotion (technically "got it" in 2021, but didn't start the position until 2022), taking my first vacation in like 4 years.

One downer though, having to put my dog to sleep due to advanced degenerative myelopathy. :(

Finally moving out of my parents' house, and finding stable work where I'm useful.

Joined a punk rock band again for the first time since 1997. Our first show was two weeks ago and we have another one coming up at the end on January. I never thought Id do this stuff in public again and have been making solo music / one man band stuff in the interim.

Probably not you guys cup of tea, but Im the bass player and one of the songwriters for Ruffian Dick:

We also have a Facebook page that the bandleader / singer runs and stuff like show info or pictures turn up there as well.

Getting my first cat after twenty something years and losing him in two months.

And things will only get worse to come.

Having my first girlfriend and going travelling together
Going sailing over Christmas and waking up to dolphins swimming and playing around our boat

Lost about 7k gambling

I built a ground level deck and gazebo in my backyard.

Drove all the way to arctic ocean in northern Canada this past summer. Pretty epic trip.

Cool. I've been up to Nunavut before (fishing) and it's like being on the moon. Driving all of the way up to the ocean would be very interesting. The way you phrased that I assume you went further than Hudson Bay?

Otherwise...my wife and I took a trip to Mexico without the kids. We've done things like a couple times before and I was afraid it would be 'old hat' but it still ended up being great/something we needed. We also got a puppy for Christmas last year: fun to watch her grow up. Beyond those two things....ehhhh.

Managing to open a cereal box top without tearing any of the cardboard.

Buying a new car.

Getting my driver's license.

Attending my mother's funeral in February. It's probably the last (if not one of the last) times that I'll ever return home.

Becoming GM of a liquor store. I was an assistant manager before, and I explained I was taking this GM position with no pay increase, and people here said I was being used. Working at my current store, a hole in the wall, I have less work to do than being an assistant at the much busier, more important store I was at before. My mental health has improved significantly. I have less to worry about. I don't have to worry about people(Other than district manager) telling me what to do when often times its a half dozen/6 situation...all kinds of things. It's been great.

Either going to WWE Money in the Bank or seeing My Chemical Romance in concert.

Going to WWE Clash at the Castle in Cardiff. I'd never been to a wrestling even before and never visited Wales so it was a good weekend. Also seeing 62,000 people and so much wrestling fans from different countries was a experience. I'm proud of myself too as I have a fear of heights yet being high up in the stadium seats didn't see to bother me. I guess that's progress.

Creating a story and characters I'm really proud of. Needs to be developed still but I have a solid beginning, middle and end to work off of.

The birth of my first grandchild.

My biggest highlight to 2022 was 2022 coming to an end. If anyone tries telling me otherwise, I'll gladly throw roasted soybeans at them until they stop.

Alaska highway through Northern BC/Yukon, Kondike Highway Whitehorse to Dawson City, Dempster Highway (unpaved) Dawson City to Tuktoyaktuk. ~11000 km round trip from my home.

You say that now, but wait for the sense of achievement on the occasion you can get up out of an armchair without making an "oomph" sound.

Selling half my stuff. Physical obsession is gross, I feel better no longer being involved in FOMO with collector's editions and figures and trading card games. I also stopped binge watching flavor of the month shows. Like, everyone I know who was ranting about Cyberpunk and Stranger Things S4 stopped discussing it just DAYS after they came out. It feels nice and freeing to give more attention to things beyond FOMO-hype and materialism.

That stopped happening years ago.

Now getting out of a chair involves grunting, various cracking noises, and hip pain.

And a crushing sense of ennui.
