Speaking of shinies, I ran into a shiny Hoppip today. It killed itself with Memento.

Doing an outbreak in the autumn area. Saw a shiny Toedscruel wander past. Ran over and grabbed it real quick. Then about 10 minutes later a shiny Heracross hovered by in the background.

Neither were the one I was after. But hey, nice surprises anyway. Continuing my streak of purple and pink random ones.

Never would have guessed that was in their moveset. Luckily for me, pretty sure the shiny Skiploom I found was too low level to have it.

Incidentally, shiny Skiploom's body is colored almost exactly the same as non-shiny Hoppip's body. I nearly didn't even see the bugger.

What I caught 2 days ago and have another outbreak of them today lol.

Anybody got a spare duck? Also does Masuda method only make males? I had 8-10 dog eggs that were all male and no shiny.

Nearly everything has a gender ratio so you might be breeding something that has a 87.5 male ratio or you're just having bad luck which happens. Also can take a long time before you get a shiny from breeding.

Beat the three main storylines last night with a team of Orthworm, Ceruledge, Clodsire, Arboliva, Pawmot, and Quaquaval. Ceruledge is definitely kind of easy mode for this game. The Champion is especially weak to him for some reason. Orthworm was also excellent with Iron Defense and Body Press. And the occasional Shed Tail too.

It's less than a 1 in a billion chance for a flawless wild poke and it's shiny.
Am assuming that paradoxes don't have 3 perfect stats but even then it's still very likely hacked.

It was holding a Master Ball and its nickname was "pkmlab.com" which redirects to a discord all about buying hacked pokemon.

okay, the strangest thing just happened. I joined someone's raid, but the game pretended my Miraidon was someone else's Iron Hands. I had its moveset, and when my mon got knocked out, it came back as Iron Hands, still with the moveset.

You can't breed for Paradox Pokemon, so the chances a wild Pokemon is generated with all perfect IVs (one in 1,073,741,824) + shiny (we'll assume the best possible conditions, so basically Masuda-tier odds, one in about 512) is 1 in 549,755,813,888 -- nearly one in 550 billion.

If you get something like that legit, no way you'd wondertrade it away.

In general through outbreaks and sandwiches, definitely. Random ones, I think I might have enough of those for a team.

I have 37 shinies, 11 of them being Lucario lol.

You don't really need to bother making sandwiches or getting food if you're just playing through the game regularly. It's primarily for breeding and making certain encounters more likely. I made them a couple times throughout the run just for Encounter Power.

I thought I had accidently released the Japanese Quaxly I had gotten but I guess it was still there. I had the male problem again but one was female. I'll breed for shinies next time I'm off.

2. Different language parents AND
3. Shiny charm

Looks like only 5-star delibird raids give the extra tera shard rewards.

Parents' shininess has no effect on offspring's chances to be shiny, at least in Pokemon specifically.

There have been some Pokemon clones, such as Temtem, where this isn't the case and it does have an effect, so if you've played that before you might be thinking of that. I know in Temtem, a Luma (shiny) parent multiplies the chances of Luma offspring by ten (essentially shaving off a zero from the overall odds). This stacks, so both parents being Luma multiplied them by a hundred. This is all offset by the fact that you only get limited breeding attempts before mons become infertile, and the offspring inherit their parents' level of fertility, so you can't just chainbreed forever to get the desired result.

It did back in G/S/C when shininess was based on IVs, so IV inheritance from the parents played a role in the offspring's shiny odds. But even then, that only worked if one parent was shiny, because if both Pokemon were shiny, they actually couldn't breed with each other at all. Gen 1-2 were weird like that.

From gen 3 onwards, shininess was no longer connected to IV's, so the parents being shiny no longer had any effect on the offspring.

I just assumed it did. I guess they didn't want it to make too much biological sense.
