character's appearance in a game?

I used to make my characters painstakingly resemble me, then I went through a phrase where I would make them hot girls. Now I mostly just make the silliest looking character every time and giggle about it. Takes me about as long as it takes for the UI to max out a slider one way or the other.

excluding wrestling games from ye olden times, probably only like 2~5 minutes

Wrestlemania 2000, though, took like an hour cuz you could customize EVERYTHING, even your moves and move variants

I try to go through every option before I decide.

I don't remember which game, but I once spent about an hour making my character look exactly like Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force and just as I was finishing, the game crashed.

spent a couple of days tweaking my character's appearance in FFXIV once; the benchmarks of expansions let you customize a character with the new races, so before Heavensward I made an Au Ra

everywhere else i just mash random until the character doesn't look terrible, but i was huge into FFXIV at the time and there wasn't much to do before the expansion launched

I'm not sure I've ever spent less than an hour customizing characters in games that have lots of options to tweak. Hell, I've spent more than an hour just coming up with a character's name.

When I played Destiny I actually deleted my character and restarted the Prologue like a dozen different times (which took about an hour and a half each time) just because the face you choose (and almost never see in-game) looked slightly different on your character in the Tower than it did in the creation screen. So I'd make a character, tweak them to look perfect, then play through the Prologue, get to the Tower, and decide they didn't look right. And since the game didn't have any way to change your face after starting, I'd basically just delete the character and try again.

Of course, that was just the start of the bullshit that eventually made me hate that game, but ehh.

I use to try to take as long as it would take to try to make it look like me. But now, I just make characters I like. Cool color hair and eyes and stuff

Also, with questions like this, it always reminds me of a comic I saw. But I cant find it anymore

On an unrelated note, I have this cool female assassin character that I made in Ragnarok Odyssey.. named Corona.

Like maybe 15 minutes. I get real bored customizing something I wont be looking at 99% of the time.

My favorite was Saints Row 2 where I made the goofiest looking mother fucker by putting every slider as far left or right as possible.

30 minutes at the most. Wrestling games come to mind when not only creating a character but adding their moves, entrance and stuff.

If you factor in the character itself, outfits, entrances, music, taunts, and move sets, I think I spent about 10 hours making my last wrestling game character.

Understandable. Wrestling games have a lot of options these days.

I got to get to the vidya gaming

Not really any meaningful amount of time. Maybe my STO character as I played that game for 10 years, but it was mainly what he was wearing and not like his looks or anything (looks remained the same for the entirety of my playing the game).

Easily an hour. One of favorite parts

I play Second Life and IMVU. In those programs it's usually an ongoing process, but me personally it takes maybe 10 minutes give or take to make my avatars looks passable.

In regular games I guess it takes somewhat less. I don't really put in a lot of effort, just find a good hairstyle and clothes and I'm good to go!

Counting restarts, it's a lot.

It was a lot of fun making ridiculous characters in Tony Hawk's Underground 2 and SmackDown! vs. Raw 2009

Yeah this. When Shadowbringers was coming out, I spent hours tweaking and finetuning a Viera character in the benchmark tool. Also it's cool cus the benchmark tools let you export the characters you design to the actual game when the expansion launches.

I spent waaaaaay too much time and effort trying to create the most hideous Mass Effect character I could. I even downloaded a save game editor just to tweak things beyond the limits of the built-in system.
