I mean it's been a decade so I don't recall all the details. I just remember that one detail being the key that unlocked everything for me, and all the clues pointed to Battler/Kyrie/Rudolph for me once I looked at it that way.

Yeah I'd probably just say reload and go through all the hints because they 100% spell it out by the end of the hints.

It had the same problem as Ep 3 to me. I didn't find it especially interesting.

It was fine, and better than 3's, but it still..... I don't know didn't mesh super well with everything else. I got excited when the goats were providing mystery explanations that that would finally reveal some of those secrets that weren't revealed.

I am mainly extremely confused about timelines here. When exactly did the waking up in Featherine's house occur, and who exactly was that.

Alright, so, you're not entirely done, probably.

Ryukishi ended Umineko with this idea that he wouldn't spell out the full and total truth even in the end, giving enough clues that dedicated readers could use as a solution while keeping to the idea presented towards the end about preserving the catbox.

But, maybe he reconsidered or enough people complained, or he intended to do this from the beginning, so during the episode 8 manga adaptation, there are three chapters called Confession of the Golden Witch. This explains the culprit and their motivations, how they performed their crimes, and reveals the solutions to a few specific mysteries as well, all in plain terms. So the final answers are there.

Also the manga changed the Battler vs Erika logic battle in the middle of the Episode to be them going over the Episode 6 battle again and giving the actual answer to it.

Also I completely called Lion's odd comment about not being sure if it was a boy or a girl being related to beatrice not necessarily being a girl

I just didn't put it all together because I didn't realize that also meant Shannon was Kanon

Funny enough, I think the VN was a touch too cryptic and this Manga is just whacking it with a hammer. Much less fun this way

It's also why Beatrice rants at Shannon about love and show serious vitriol towards the notion of sex when killing her in Episode 2 (because it's something that Sayo can't actually do in the way George would presumably want).

It didn't feel there was any evidence at all about lack of sexual ability. That one seems a bit hard to reach to

There is, though. At the end of Episode 7's Tea Party you get flashes of things that make the rest of Episode 7 less 'wholesome', including the implication that Kinzo raped Beatrice II, and Yasu/Beatrice ranting and crying about how they "can't love due to this injury, so they might as well be furniture".

Basically, combined with the whole gender confusion thing between Shannon/Kanon and Lion, the answer is that they were born male as "Lion", but after falling off the cliff they got a gender-disfiguring injury. Then because they no longer had functioning male genitals they were raised female as "Sayo", who got the Servant name of Shannon.

I definitely think that is a reasonable conclusion, but even with everything else revealed, the story still keeps Sayo's sex and gender situation very ambiguous. That's like the one thing I'd avoid drawing strong conclusions about.

And based on Ryukishi's interviews I think his perspective is that he didn't want a firm answer there because it felt too invasive for the character he'd written.
