Finished chapter 6 and I legitimately feel really bad about fighting the Hoshidan. Like I was getting a sinking feeling in my stomach with the defeat quotes. I guess I got pretty attached?

I put a pretty big weight on story and characters in these rankings, and I already know having Birthright over Awakening (spoilers, but I have to assume everyone reading along saw that coming) is bad enough, but if Birthright ends up above Conquest I may get tarred and feathered.

Obviously it's way to early to say though! Will just have to see if the game itself is just that much better than Birthright as people claim it is.

Funny thing that.

A lot of Conquest's writing failings come from how the main characters treat Garon.

That and how they treat Corrin are two of the major failings, yes.

I love this. It's maybe my favorite thing about evil routes in games. They make me feel so bad.

Evil routes usually just make me feel like a complete moron and nowhere is that more true than Conquest Corrin

Well I can't say the same for me but that would explain the voice and name. It does just seem to be speculation so far however, the website doesn't specify a gender. His/her VA is male and the dialogue has them use 'ore' which is a masculine pronoun, but its not really definitive even still because the VA has voiced female characters before and its not suuuuper uncommon for masculine female characters to use male pronouns.

But it is like 80% likely at this point, yeah.

Wolrd seems determined to keep me from putting in Conquest time, but I have a 5 day staycation coming up Sundays to use up my remaining vacation days so it's about to get SLAMMED.

Looks kinda bad honestly. Lots of default SRPG Studio assets (seems like everything but the character portraits) which is fine but then they're charging $15? I think they added extra frames to the animations at least but I can't tell offhand if they're just relying on the extended animations that have already been made by fans or if they put in their own work. Maps look very amateur too. Maybe they just didn't show the interesting ones but my sense is that they fell into the trap of "big rectangles are easy, I'll just make a map that's all big rectangles".

Hope it's good though! If it gets good Steam reviews I'll probably check it out.

Beat chapter and it's already noticeable how much better the maps are. It wasn't even an issue of the Birthright maps being BAD, but the Conquest maps just seem better. Spreading out units more, multiple plans of attacks, feels like anyone could eat it at any time, the boss of this chapter was actually on a throne! I had to coordinate with like 6 different units to take him down.

Switching Felicia isn't the worst thing since she's better at magic and she's probably not going to hit S staves anyway. Switching Elise is terrible since she needs magic shurikens to deal actual damage, and you need C rank for those. She's actually a decent combat unit after promotion thanks to her high speed and magic, and making her a maid just wastes that.

Question: if I reclass Felecia to a level 12 Strategist now (wierd to me that she reclasses to a level 12 Strategist and not a level 2) she'd have to gain 4 levels to make her way through to the inspiration skill, right? Because she learns the old skills including Troubador's one at a time? Trying to figure that out before starting the chapter since if so I'd want to do it right now, and then go right back to Maid afterwards, unless there's an issue there.

I think she already learned the Troubadour skills since that would be her unpromoted class if she had one, so she'll learn the level 5 skill at 13 and the level 15 skill when she's supposed to.

OK, so I guess...Heart Seal at 13, then Heart Seal back at 15. Don't plan to heart seal anyone else so that doesn't bother me. Should bring one to the map with me then, lol.

I guess the only question here now is if I should early promote Elise at 12 here to start building Time rank, but that's. Just a personal call. Nobody got past level 15 in Birthright and there's less leveling in this one, so I don't see much point in waiting.
