Since this is bumped, I want to add that I thank everyone for their input. I'm trying to show restraint at the current Steam Sales. I did buy one cheap game, but it's short. I also had half a mind to buck that and go to something from this list tonight instead.

And I think I said this somewhere, but a lot of the games in that pile at the bottom of the OP were games I didn't play enough to be included with this group. One play session and done, usually. Which is why I was intending on putting them together if I decided to do a second poll. This describes quite a few of the noteworthy games folks have called attention to. (like Chicory)

I can't remember much about Iconoclasts other than being mildly annoyed/disappointed with it. It certainly wasn't as fun as the developer's prior game, Noitu Love 2.

Going from memory, you have two main factions. One is very controlling and militaristic. The rebel group is half nature hippies with a bunch of weird foibles of their own. Both have a religion that guides their principles. Your character is an outsider mechanic who just wants to fix things, even though that's illegal.

There are a bunch of other members of the main cast, and all of them have some...personality quirks. They're over the top, and occasionally pompous, but nothing I ever found especially annoying. Then again, I was focused primarily on the gameplay. The only thing that's weird there is occasionally the plot decides that you get to control one of those other characters for a time.

imo the story is unmemorable but fine, it's just that it takes up like 50% of the game and interrupts you constantly. Anytime there's story it's just clearly worse than playing the game so you sit there like "ugh". But the gameplay isn't even good so when you get control back you also go "ugh".
