One is very controlling and militaristic. The rebel group is half nature hippies with a bunch of weird foibles of their own. Both have a religion that guides their principles. Your character is an outsider mechanic who just wants to fix things, even though that's illegal. There are a bunch of other members of the main cast, and all of them have some...personality quirks. They're over the top, and occasionally pompous, but nothing I ever found especially annoying. Then again, I was focused primarily on the gameplay. The only thing that's weird there is occasionally the plot decides that you get to control one of those other characters for a time. --- Only the exceptions can be exceptional. ...
